I think it'd be a good idea to get together in a seperate chat room, too. I have AIM, MSN, and YIM, but AIM would work best for me.

*this is twg*

I'll go with that. Crew before our crew. Not the same characterizations. Not necessarily the same number aboard or type of professions either.

*does something fan-like*

'Like OMG! I hear the ship is a Firefly...that is soooo shiny!'

I like the PAX idea. If you look at Firefly almost all the characters seem to have either a secret or a life changing moment. I think that's what gave the characters depth.

My suggestion for a crew (not nescessarily a serious suggestion just an illistration.)

Willard (Will) Hawkings (Capt) formally a loyal mid ranking Alliance officer now trying to scrape a living out on the Rim. Dishonorably discharged, though neither he nor any Alliance they meet will explain why. Whatever it was proved to be traumatic, he keeps having flashbacks of a little Chinese girl screaming at him. He's in his early to mid 30's insular and somewhat formal, a native of Ariel and a core worlder. Imagine the Alliance captain from "Bushwacked" who's taken a wrong turn.

Amy Frost (Pilot) She was quite literally the girl next door, the kid that lived next to the Hawking's family on Ariel. She's ten years younger than Will and spent so long at his place growing up that he sees her almost as his little sister. There are suggestions that her feelings for him go deeper than that but she's timid about expressing herself for fear of driving him away. She's loyal to him and is trying to get back the boy that went to war. Her father was an academic who opposed the war and was interned by the Alliance. Her family lost everything and Amy's mother, unable to deal with the stress, commited suicide. The Hawkings family took Amy in and protected her so there is a strong element of gratitude in her love of their son. She does however hate the Alliance with a passion.

Dr Emiline Choi [Dr] (I would love to have at least one Asian character if we can find a good enough actor, this character is here as an example.) Deals occasionally go bad on the crew. During what should have been a milk run to a fronteer settlement the crew got ambushed and Will got shot. The local doctor, Dr Choi, patched him up well enough but the Sheriff had felt obliged to report the incident to the local Fed garison commander. When she heard that the Feds where on their way Dr. Choi unexpectedly packed her things and appeared at the ship asking if they needed a doctor. It's clear that she's running from the Alliance, it's unclear why. We later discover that she was part of the team that developed Paxilate Hydride (PAX). She had found some problems during lab tests, results her ambitious team leader had suppressed. When the Miranda field test had gone bad the team leader had dumped most of the blame on Emiline. Little did he realise but he had actually done her a favour, faced with prosecution Emiline had run, leaving the core just before the Parliament had ordered the death of all the scientists and the erasure of all reference to PAX and Miranda. Emiline is on the run with possibly an Alliance Operative on her trail.

Joss Farrell (Mechanic) Young punk kid, ex Browncoat (they were getting desperate for men) awkward, bumbling, has a tendency to stutter under stress or when talking to women. He's a sweet kid but will never make it with a girl unless she makes the openning move. He may be carrying a torch for Amy, but she is so caught up with Will she never notices. He is a nerds, nerd, almost anything a modern nerdy kid would be into he's into. He is also the smartest person on the boat by a significant margin. He is super smart, in fact almost River Tam smart --- though his shyness manages to hide it well.

Dalton Maynard is a thug, a heavy, a gunsel. He was hired by Will because one too many deals went wrong and he needed some extra security. Dalt was happy to do whatever was needed as long as he got paid. He didn't always see eye to eye with Will but hey it was Will's ship.... That changed once Emiline Choi came on board. Dalt is dumb but just smart enough to realise his own shortcomings. Emiline is way above his level and he knows it but he's falling for her anyway. Part of this could be Florence Nightingale syndrome --- Dalt get's beat up and shot up enough times that he spends a lot of time in Dr Choi's care--- but in any case he's decided in his own ham fisted way to woo he

This is a great idea! I wish I had some kind of production/acting talent... darn.

Still, I can proofread, and translate to Spanish if you plan on doing subtitles. (Please do!)

Oh, in case we use the pre-Mal Serenity ship idea... one of the ways we can connect the ship to the BDH adventures is by having someone on board believe in destiny or some such. That way, when they part with the Firefly ship, that person can be like, "Everything happens for a reason." Or something like that. :)

I hope this happens!

After reading the replies here right now I have decided to rewrite my episode..... But to tell you the truth i think this going to be huge and possibly a movie type thing with all the ideas that we have.

I'll send the script out and see what happens. We can start aa chatroom in Yahoo.

I'll let you know when it's done.

This sounds like a good idea. Are there people in Sydney Australia interested? I have 16mm camera and basic editing equipment I would love to use.

I was thinking of a very short 5 minute section. Say at a road block or something. I have seen some very funny star war fan fics.

please email me at sg_smith@rocketmail.com if you are interested.
