My tastes are all over the place but don't be alarmed. These are the albums that stuck to my ribs over the years for various boring reasons. 
In no particular order:

Shiny! I'm glad everyone's getting along now. I'll give you all my take on music. I like stuff that's fast, pulse-pounding, bass-thumping, that you can sing along to. Sometimes that's Nickelback or Metallica, sometimes it's Destiny's Child. I'm not a fan of slow music cuz it brings me down. But that's just me. So anyways, that's my take.

I checked out The End, Oldhag...pretty impressive. I like it. I've also decided I have to find a way to fit Mastodon on my top 10. I've been listening to them a lot lately and think all the talk of them being the future for metal may very well be justified. insanely good stuff ;D

Placebo's alright, I have a few albums. I have to argue with you on 3EB, though. I consider them my guilty pleasure band (probably the most mainstreamish thing I listen to). I think their first album is their weakest album. I've yet to be able to decide which I like better out of Blue or Out of the Vein, though. Matchbox 20 is one of those bands I just hate with a passion...not really sure why, they've just always bothered me (especially when they did that with Carlos Santana, another musician I just can't stand at all).

I'm really into the gorillaz just now. I have to admit I am NOT on the cutting edge music - wise.
past faves ( the ones I'll admit to in retrospect)include:
pixies
nirvana
radiohead
faith no more ( was a total geek in the 90s)
... stuff like that, but also a lot of stuff not at all like that
