Dear Browncoats,

After a recent conversation on the IRC channel, I volunteered to look into the cost for having Blue Sun shirts made for them as wants them. It makes a shiny U-day gift, and looks great at the gym, around town, sharpening your knives, or while designing aircraft. The link to the artwork on the fox site (gorram fox!) says, “Enjoy,” so I reckon we should.

The shirt in question is gray and has the Blue Sun logo on the front in blue. It resembles the one Jayne wore to be knifed by River in at the beginning of Ariel, except it is gray rather than olive and has the sleeves still on. It’s a Hanes Beefy-T, an exceptionally solid cotton T-Shirt, and the logo is silk-screened on. Since it’s only one color and one side, the cost is fairly reasonable. Postpaid to your US or Canada address, I can get them out to you for US$10.00 apiece. If you’re overseas, throw in a little more for the extra postage (use your judgment). Sorry, no discount for platinum.

I’d like to organize it this way: If you want one (or several. Remember, Unification Day’s right around the corner), send me an e-mail to embassy82@yahoo.com with your name, sizes, and address. I’ll tell the shop on 30 June to give everyone time to get their order in. When I send you back a confirmation e-mail, I’ll give you an address to send a check, or paypal information if you prefer. Then I’ll get them in the mail and you should have your shirts by 14 July or so.

This price should yield a moderate (< $1.00) surplus, which I’ll donate to a suitable charity like homeless vets or something. Suggestions welcome.

T-Shirts are a cool way to help advertise our favorite show so I'd like to see the "Firefly" logo somewhere on them.

Also, I must have missed this but what day IS Unification Day?

"Appears they've canceled the show and we're still here. What does that make us?"
"Big damn junkies, Sir!"
"Ain't we just."

I haven't the foggiest idea when U-day is, but I choose to observe it the day "The Train Job" first aired.

I think with an active movie and DVD project in the works the firefly logo would have serious rights issues attached to it, so discretion obliges me to a careful touch here. The Blue Sun logo is very much an in-joke, and unlikely to get us into trouble.

What size ranges will the t-shirts be in? And is it possible to specify male or female?

Cool idea!

The way I understand it, sizes are standard men's S M L XL and more Xs, Anything over XXL is a $1.50 surcharge, they tell me.

Doesn't Unification refer to The Alliance thinking that they had unified all the "civilized planets" under their rule? The U-day must be talking about a day in which a battle was fought, or a surrender accepted, that turned the tide of the war. Most likely, the battle of Serenity Valley.

then again, the train job IS set during Uday (Funny how come every uday, you find yourself looking for a quiet drink in an alliance friendly bar.)

so it should be that fathful day in September...

The train job aired on 20 SEP 2002.

Sounds like a perfectly good U-day to me!

We should find ourselves an Alliance-friendly bar come U-day in which to look for a quiet drink. The only problem is, I don't think there are any bars owned by Fox anywhere. Who else could be Alliance-friendly?
