Great movie. From the commentary during the final credits: "More people worked on this movie than saw it in theaters." LOL, sigh.

Good call on Hardboiled. I reckon that CYF's slide down the bannister while shooting lots of folk has to be the inspiration for Legolas doing his shield-surfing.
(...or not, if I'm talking about a different film. Yours is the one with the baby ward shoot-out, right?
For some reason though, Hidden Tiger, Crouching Thingy never did anything for me. Bullet time got old very quickly, and the flying sequences looked a bit like Peter Pan at the Panto

Man, I've read through this thread, and you guys have just about named every underrated movie I can possibly think of that I've enjoyed.
Grosse Pointe Blank - I've watched every John Cusack flick since.
Dark City
Quick and the Dead
Serenity - DUH!
I do, however, still have a couple to add:
Ella Enchanted - If anything, this is the current day movie to place right next to Princess Bride. I enjoyed every minute of it.
The Rundown - I despise The Rock. He annoys the ever-living piss out of me. Yet every time I see this re-running on HBO, I am compelled to watch it.
Being John Malkovitch - You have to be in a very odd place to enjoy this movie, but it had just the right amount of kookiness to be truly enjoyable. Besides, this is the movie that showed I look like John Cusack! (If he goes all grizzly adams and keeps an insane look on his face. :) )

Ooh, this looks like fun. Dunno if I can think of 10, but here goes.
1. Going the Distance - Canadian made movie that is full of non-stop hilarity. Being Canadian-made, not many saw it, but they should.
2. Inuyasha movies - fantastic anime. The word anime alone usually puts people off.
3. Castle in the Sky - Another bit of genius from the Japanese. Surprisingly long, well-made animated movie that I adore.
4. Dogma. I don't know how well this actually did, but I know the controversy alone turned a lot of people off. Hilarious and surprisingly deep.
5. Chronicles of Riddick (dives behind wall). Now I know a lot of people trashed this, but if you watch the director's cut, not the theatrical verison, it is fantastic.
6. Freaky Friday - just a great movie. Full of fun and stellar acting from Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan. This was before she sold out to Hollywood and became a bleached blonde anorexic.
7. Sgt. Bilko - best. Steve Martin. movie. EVER. It's just so funny.
8. Secondhand Lions - pure storytelling genius. I love this movie. It sounds like a weird premise but it's incredible.
9. The Halloween Tree - I have to watch this every Halloween. It's just great.
10. Peter Pan (2004) - again, I don't know how well this did, but if you didn't see it cuz you were afraid it was Disneyfied crap, please go see it. It was Peter Pan the way it was meant to be. Visually stunning too.

Speaking of Samurai movies, The Blind Samurai.
From the summer of the unstopable Samurai movie (Hero, Twilight Samurai). After seeing this one there was an investigation of the theme, and there are many, many hysterical Blind Samurai movies out there.

With most of the Aliens cast as vampires, it came out right after A2, dir Katherine Bigelow.

Australian girl circa 1900, too firey bright to be stuck in the sticks, from the autobiography of Miles Franklin. Well written, beautifully acted.

Picnic at Hanging Rock
Spooky spooky true story of disappearing girls at a school picnic, very quiet, eerie ass rock formations, the constant calling of magpies in the background, directed by Peter Weir.

No. That's not a recommendation. It's tragic RobertDN stuff. And I bet loads of people have only seen his later lighter stuff.
He's always been great in drama, but he really can do comedy well. I just wish he'd pick decent films.
Like "Midnight Run" (Plus best possible co-star in Charles Grodin.) And the Litmus Configuration Test. Cracks me up every time.

"The Rundown" was the first movie of his I'd seen, and I was really impressed by how expressive the guy can be.
That 'WTF?' look he had on his face as he was starin' at the flap o' duct tape hangin' off the wing of the Cessna was effin' worth the price of the DVD!
