Agree about Upside of Anger. When I heard Kevin Costner starred in it I was so mad with my friend for taking me. Then I watched it. He was just brilliant.
Batman Begins. Mildly enjoyed some of the previous batman movies. Was completely riveted to this one - batman how it should have been from the start. And, of course, Christian Bale. Whoa.
Mulholland Drive was fantastic. Batman Begins...hubby bought it and watched last night. i caught the last few minutes and was hooked...can't wait to see the whole thing.
My all time favorite guilty pleasure might be RAISING ARIZONA
when Holly Hunter says "my FI-YANCE left me" I pee my pants every time. So funny!!

Shaun of the Dead. I'm a big fan of zombie films, and it's definitely one of the best I've seen. That and I love the dry British humor.

I had the same response to that. I went in not really knowing what to expect, but when I came out of it, I felt like I just saw it. The movie that will define my generation. I think this flick will one day be as revered as THE GRADUATE or THE BIG SILL, as a flick that taps into the zeitgeist of our times. I love this movie with a passion. The best movie of 2004, IMHO, and possibly of the decade. I already did a paper on it for my Film Theory and Aesthetics class.
If you think what I said is an overstatement, watch the bathub scene. I defy you not to be crying alongside Large.

My husband brought this one home. I asked what it was and he shrugged. Oh, great. The first couple of minutes into it I was beginning to think it was “one of those” that he comes home with sometimes. Then it just sucked me in. It is a bizarre little movie about a mathematician searching for the meaning of life (and a way to cheat the stock market) by finding the ultimate number set. Honestly, it was is one of the most bizarre (and I don’t use that word lightly, but here I’ve used it twice) movies I think I’ve ever seen, and yet afterwards I was hoping the main character was happy--as if I knew him. Man! Just weird, but I really enjoyed it despite myself.
