Topic seems to have gone a little dead. If Mal's position is still open, I'd like to give it a try?..

II am a tad bit new to the obsession, but I've watched Serenity four times and the series more than I can count (with the exception of two episodes I have yet to get my hands on). Been roleplayin' for six years..

So, if the option is still open, I'd like to know.

My favorite characters are River and Mal, and I've wrote a fanfic or so about both of 'em. Seeing as how you was sayin' recastin' all the original characters, I'd be happy to take either if you'd give me the honor.

Preferably River. =) Lemme know.

Hey, there! Thanks for stepping up! We actually aren't recasting all the original characters, just the ones we're currently without. We have someone writing for River, currently, but if you'd like to give Mal a go, we're willing.

We're working out the kinks of our current storyline so we can put it to bed and get on with a new one, so bear with us for a little bit. (We also have tons of folks in college, so writing schedules are usually kind of erratic. )

Here's hoping everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving (them that celebrate it)!

Where do we stand with re-vamping the current RP? There's still a bit of clean up to do before we can move on to a new "mission"... are folks up to doing that now, or is everyone bogged down for the holidays? If need be, we can pick this up again after the new year...

A week and a day, and I've a month off. Hit me with your best RPG shot. Though I will warn you that next semester is about 70 pages of thesises (thesii?) and graduation. Then again, the insanity of that might qualify me perfectly for my role here. ;)

Okay, so, yeah, I'm alive. And well. Feeling about as sheepish as BrokenChilde about not being around here. Bad Channy! Bad!

Thinking it's time to revive this thing.

The best way I can think to do that is to jump ahead to the drop. If anyone has any notions in that direction, feel free to speak up.

For the newbies, I should do something in the way of a synopsis, huh? Hmmmmm

Adventures in Gunrunning, a.k.a. Gunrunners

First, join this troupe, and you will be known as a “Gunrunner.”

Now, what happened on January 1, 2003 could be considered something of a phenomenon. We were one of the first role-playing threads on this site and although it’s not known whether we’re the longest running, it’s gotta be pretty gorram close.

This is a static cast, canon RP, which (in my head at least) means we’re using the Firefly cast and writing as close to firefly canon as possible. We’ve also got additional characters in the form of passengers—three at the moment, although there used to be four. The passengers all answered the last casting call WAY back in Act 4. We’re in Act 26 now, and the new acts are added once the threads reach about 100 posts, so it’s a pretty chubby little RP.

STORY STUFF (thought I’d never get to it, didn’t cha?)

Serenity landed on Hera in response to a job offer from Badger. She had some pretty interesting trouble along the way (like that's a surprise), in the form of Jubal Early’s untimely appearance on board, but landed safely at the Eavesdown docks where they were met by their employer and first passenger, Roosevelt 'Rosie' Thorne. With Mr. Thorne came two shipments; one of tequila which was loaded on board Serenity at the docks. The destination of that particular shipment is currently unknown. Could be that Mr. Thorne just liked his tequila and required a constant supply – anyone else that’s been here long enough to remember, feel free to speak up if this is in error.

In fact, that pretty much goes for everything in the story stuff. I’m going on memory here.

At the same time, three other people came on board as passengers; Fa-Zhou Rowan, a 9-ball hustler and sub-cortex slasher (that’s Firefly for hacker) who needed passage to a tournament that happened to be on the same planet Serenity was headed for; a border world called New Hokkaido. The other was Damon Boster, a fugitive who managed to escape a Fed patrol and got himself shot on the way on board.

Turns out that Rowan and Damon have a connection that neither one is aware of, and that is slowly revealing itself as time wears on here. Namely, Rowan had a husband who she thinks is dead, but who Damon knows from an unfortunate stint in the slave mines of a planet called Dis. Damon is an escaped slave, hence the Fed patrol.

The fourth passenger was Brink 'Slight' Helsing. Slight would also be considered a fugitive, particularly since he is the product of a Blue Sun enhancement program. As it’s been awhile since I read the details, you can go to our cast site to read the full bio on Slight.

Once Serenity was ready to launch, they had to head out to—guess where—Serenity Valley, where the rest of Thorne’s shipment was; a healthy stash of non-registered ordnance that he was being paid handsomely to have shipped to New Hokkaido. It was here that Serenity picked up her fifth passenger, Mercedez Troy. Merz is the product of an earlier Alliance project for the military, only of course no one knows that either. Rowan starts to figure it out along the way, and eventually it becomes blatantly clear that Merz is not all that she seems.

The original storyline was thus: complete the gunrunning, get paid, then help Rowan find her husband.
