It's hard to contain my excitement over the success of the film, as well as an apparent groundswell of interest in the television series through the DVD release. I'm a newbie to "FireFly" but today I just finished the DVD set and CAN'T WAIT FOR MORE! Saw the movie "Serenity" BEFORE the DVD set, and wish I had seen them in reverse order! I now absolutely MUST buy the movie once it is available. The series cast is so excellent in the television it's hard to believe how perfectly matched they really are! Everyone who loves this series should promote it among their friends and family, and with any luck the networks can be shamed into continuing this superb show. Overall, it blows away most other sciefi series in that it does NOT rely on ridiculous rubber-suited characters, transporters and other gismos: its success lies largerly in it being character and plot driven - this is how great television ought to be. Let's hear it, folks!

You know, if a sequel has to come straight to DVD everywhere with a lower budget, I'll still be happy. It's Firefly, and there are some unanswered questions left to be explored.

I'm in Greensboro, It is still listed at the Grand thismorning. I have seen the movie 3 times, and turned many friends on to it. I say heck with another movie. GET the show back on TV. Then we can watch a new story every week, rather than waiting for one every 3 years.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, tommorrow my sister and her friends are going to watch it at the AMC interchange 30 in Concord, Ontario, Canada. Check with AMC listing near Toronto. It is also playing at the AMC Winston Churchill 24 in Ontario, Canada.

I totally agree with you, though I would like to see both. To have the season finale' as a movie after two (2) years would be great. I say too since its a lot of work to do one every year. I would like to see more firefly on tv as long as it doesn't become another show and completely drag out who the characters are and where they came from. ie 5 years later we find out where Shepard Book came from. All the same, the show is awesome.

Statisically, revenue from the theater releases only equal 16% of the total earnings. Most comes from DVD. So, if 35.6 million = 16%, then that makes the total revenue: 222.5 million. Not a number to squak at... perhaps even a sequel-producing total.
So the answer: BUY THOSE DVDS!

Where are you seeing this? According to the paper, Yahoo movie listings and the ticket guy at the Grande last night when I went in for the second time - it's gone today (which is of course why I saw it twice last night!)I'd love it if it were really still here!
NC Browncoat says it's in Raleigh though so I may be making a trip there this weekend. I have a friend I haven't visited for awhile and know she has not seen this - I'll drag her if I have too...knowing she'll thank me in the end of course!
Or we can hope that Fleschette is right and it comes to Sedgefield!! Wish I had noticed it leaving sooner - we could have rallied a big send off for the girl like TheGreyJedi suggested. Too busy at work I guess...which I'd better get back too!
Glad to know there are fellow Greensboro (and surrounding areas) folks who love this.
We'll just keep plugging away. If we could just hit that 39 million before it disappears from the theaters forever I'd feel so much better...

Nice, The production budget was only 39 million, so i see these figures as a good sign, especialy with the DVD not out set.
