Can anyone guess why I couldn't play HOG on my windows media player. It seemed unable to obtain the proper codec. Am I wrong in thinking most mpegs are mpeg2? I had to go get an independant mpeg2 player.

I think it uses the DIVX codec. You can download it from http://www.divx.com/

It's an MPEG2 file, not DIVX. I can't open it with anything on my PC either. I downloaded the torrent version.
Trash is a DIVX AVI file, and you need the codec for that, but not HoG. I went ahead and burned an SVCD in VCDEASY and will try it out when I get my hands on a DVD player.
But it's not looking good yet!

Wow, BitTorrent is a cool program! I've never used it before. Downloading HoG now...

The Message download from trs80 just finished up (thanks!), so that BitTorrent will be up when I can get home from work... stupid job, interferring with my Firefly obsession.

I've downloaded HoG using BitTorrent. I get video and audio, but covering over a third of the right side of the picture is a blue/green/purple/plaid corruption thing. Media Player tries to download a codec in the beginning, but there's an error and the episode starts playing? Anyway to fix it?
I've also tired realplayer and that doesn't work either.

From what I can gather, it sounds like a problem playing mp2. Someone on this thread mentioned that they had to download an mp2 player. I'm sure there's a bunch of free ones at download.com.

Would it be too much to ask if someone could convert the episodes into RealPlayer/RealMedia files?
