Well I think you guys should stop yapping on an open forum and get to do to doing privately...could be spoiling it for people who just wanna read the series.

As for forums, you could just proboards. I love them, you can do anything with them.

Okay, so, enough with the ideas. Down to business. How are we going to do this? Who's in? Who's in charge?

If we're serious about this, I think it's time to start organizing rather than just throwing out ideas.

I certainly don't want to usurp anyone's power, but I'll volunteer right now to help organize things. Can I be, like, a head writer or somesuch? :)

Also, is anyone aware or another group working on this same concept? If so, we should hook up with them so we're not duplicating effort.

Anyone want to set a website for this? Is fireflyseasontwo.com taken?

Thoughts? Opinions? Who's in? And who wants to play producer?

I agree. I'm totally in. I've never done this before so I dont know how helpful I'd be in organizing but I'm willing to do anything that needs doing. :) I really would love to be a writer, and I'll do any other job that I can. I think we've gotten together some great ideas, I think we are ready to start! Lets get going! :)

I think virtualfirefly.com/.net/.co.uk would be better because if you go over two seasons...then fireflyseasontwo is pretty crap for a name.

Im in, in any way I can help. Now I must admit I probably found firefly/serenity later then most, but my questions is. How is Joss gonna feel about us using his characters and basic world without his permission? Or is he cool about fans using it. Also is this gonna be just a written season? Is it gonna be told third/first person, or through a new character? Or maybe we are gonna write it out script form. Or are we gonna do it graphic novel style, or maybe using flash ?

But however we proceed, Im in.

Okay, here's how it is: Lot of people seem to be interested, but no one is organizing yet, so I'm going to appoint myself head writer.

My job will be to organize the overall flow of the season (in concert with the other writers, of course), and also make sure that we don't make any major mis-steps (like generating episodes that stray too far into bad fanfic...).

For the record, professionally speaking, I'm an editor, and have also won writing awards, so I'm bringing some experience to this.

Here's what think we need:

WRITERS: If you guys look at my previous messages, you'll see that I have a lot of ideas on the overall season spine, but I have no desire to come up with stories to fill 22 episodes, so we need probably 4-8 staff writers (that will probably give most people 2-4 episodes each, which should be enough for folks to develop their own mini-arcs).

By the way, I think the following should be "required reading" for anyone who wants to participate: Every episode of "Firefly" (preferably with commentary as well), the Serenity mini-series (which wraps up season 1), and the Serenity novelization.

TECH FOLKS: I'd like two do two things here. First, we need a better way to communicate. Can someone set up a forum or something for us? I'm not particular tech savvy myself...

Second, we'll need a site for this. I'm seeing it as eventually looking like a virtual DVD set, wth special features, commentary, etc.

ARTISTS: Not sure how we want to do this yet (treatments, full scripts for every episode, etc), but I think it would be great to have whatever we write illustrated in some way (storyboards, etc).

RESEARCH: Is anyone else working on a project like this? Will Joss get mad? If the answer to either of these is yes, we need to rethink things.

OTHER FOLK: Anyone else who wants to participate and has something to provide. If nothing else, we'll probably need a small handful of folk to read everything to make sure we're not spiraling into madness.

OUR MISSION: To create a virtual "season two" of what the motion picture "Serenity" could have been if Joss had 22 episodes rather than 2 hours. "Here's how it might've been..."

Anyone who's interested in working on this project in a serious manner (because, don't get me wrong, it's gonna be WORK) can e-mail me at gwek@optonline.net and we can start organizing.

Sound good?

That could actually be done as a seperate download once the season has aired. A normal website would surfice, slong as it presents itself and makes clear what it is.

I think the idea is to email gwek at the above address if you are interested. People were tired of the chatter going on here.

One idea I'd like to toss out -
I'm sure you guys are considering at least one episode to develop Book's past a little more. I've heard several discussions about how Book was probably an Operative at one time, which explains quite a bit. I'd love to see an episode exploring the parallels between Book and the Operative, his path to redemption, etc. To me this seems like one of the more obvious ideas, but probably a pretty good one, and since I didn't see it mentioned yet...
