To the point: Do the theaters that show the "older" new releases, for a discounted ticket price, count their earnings towards the movie's box office numbers?

In my town (Tucson) we have several new release theaters which show movies on their opening release date. We also have a few "cheap theaters" that show movies after they have ended their run with the new release theaters, and ask a lot less for tickets. Serenity just moved to these theaters (). If I go see Serenity at these theaters, am I contributing? I want to feel like I'm helping.

Thanks!

MY OPINION IS:

...that, Yes: You Are Contributing...

because this is "revenue" that MUST be attached to the movie. The theater that is showing it - 2nd-run or not - is paying a rental-fee-against-grosses... and maybe a percentage of those grosses too, and,

even if this is the only way you can see it - JEEZ, whatth'hell(?), such a BDM(!!) - "Get Down, Get Funky," J. Brown

HOHOHO

Go See the BDM "or your friends will think you're a stupid, inbred stack of meat"

Well I've seen it twice at the normal theater, so I did contribute some and I did it the right way, so I feel okay. But I have other people I know who haven't seen it and I wanted them to, which was how the question came about. Thanks for the reassurance!

Also, I want to make sure that I'm helping because the deal as it stands is, watch a couple episodes of Firefly (which I bought to show off) and I'll buy your ticket to see Serenity. I don't see how any logical person could stay unhooked after that.
