Top Ten Favorite Albums(or bands)

I thought that since we were on the subject of top ten movies that I would take the time and make up a top ten for fav. bands or albums. Now I know there are going to be lots of different opinions about this, heck, i'm probably one of the most opinionated when it comes to music but just remember, we all have one thing in common-we're all Browncoats. So don't let the fighting get to bloody. But I do enjoy discussing music alot with people so here goes...

Oh, and one more thing, this is going to be difficult to name the top ten cd's or albums cuz I've heard so much but i'll try.

This is in no particular order:

1. (Band) The End (Albums)Transfer Trachea Reverberations From Point: False Ominiscient---Within Dividia

2. (Band) Meshuggah (Albums) Chaosphere---Nothing---Destroy, Erase, Improve

3. (Band) Faith No More, Tomahawk, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas---(Albums) All Albums by all 4 bands---( I put these bands together because they all have Mike Patton as the lead singer)

4. (Band) Dillinger Escape Plam (Albums) Calculating Infinity---Miss Machine--Irony is a Dead Scene w. Mike Patton

5. (Band) Lamb of God--- former name-Burn the Priest (Albums) Self Titled---New American Gospel

6. (Band) Pink Floyd (Albums) Dark Side of the Moon---Wish you Were Here

7. (Band) Converge (Albums) When Forever Comes Crashing(Remastered)---Jane Doe---You Fail Me

8. (Band) Mastadon (Albums) Remission---Leviathion

9. (Band) Queens of the Stone Age (Albums) Rated R---Songs for the Deaf

10. (Band) System of a Down (Albums) Self Titled---Mezmerize/Hypnotize

11. (Band) Tool (Albums) Aenima

I know I said only ten but i couldn't help my self. I had to put Tool on there. But that's all of them for me. Definate runners up would be: Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Isis, Secret Chiefs 3, and The Amelie Soundtrack. If there is already one of these threads point me to it please. If you have any questions about the Bands that i like I'm more than happy to answer.

These Bands in my opinion are the most talented, intricate, complex, pummelling, inspiring, beautiful, and gut-wrenching Musicians that have ever walked the face of the Earth.

Wow, you like a lot of really good bands...I mean you even know bands like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Isis, and all the Patton bands. In fact, I like every band you listed except for maybe 2.

Hmm, top 10...I can't do this in any real order so as I think them -

Dillinger Escape Plan
Remembering Never
Nine Inch Nails
Strapping Young Lad/Devin Townsend Band (yeah I'm putting them together ;D)
VAST
Tool
God Lives Underwater
Dog Fashion Disco
Stabbing Westward
Meshuggah

Wow, that's hard...I have a bunch of runners up like Filter, APC, 3EB, Sunna, Porcupine Tree, ohGr, Opeth, mewithoutYou, Live, Deadsy, Between the Buried and Me, Econoline Crush...on and on. I surprise people sometimes because I like really heavy stuff, but I also listen to a lot of soft stuff, including classical and jazz.

I see you didn't list Catch 33 as a Meshuggah album...don't like it? It's probably my fav by them.

As for favorite album, I generally say it's The Fragile by NIN. It really resonates with me. It's a lot of peoples' least favorite NIN album, though ;(

An album I listen to a lot (especially when I need cheering up) is Remembering Never's Women and Children Die First. I know it sounds harsh but they're a great band with a positive message.

Oh, and you ever get a chance to see SYL/Devin live, do it. The guy is insane.

I know I'm going to kick myself later for forgetting some bands, but oh well ;D

I'm not much of an emo fan. There are exceptions like Mewithoutyou and The Mars Volta. But as a whole they are just a bunch of whiners. I love catch 33 but it's not my favorite DEI and Chaosphere are better than it, but it's a great album nontheless.

As for The Fragile I think that it ranks up there with some of the best Albums ever, but like i said i can't put all of my favs on the top ten. Just the most important.

I love jazz music, I mean you kind of have to if you like intricate music like The End and Dillenger Escape Plan. That is their derivitive I also love orchestral and even some opera. But My fav. artist would have to be Mike Patton. The man has the most creative mind ever. But anyways, I would like to hear from more people about this.

I don't know alot but the one thing i do know about is music.

Yeah, I know what you mean about jazz. That's how I usually explain the eclectic tastes I have. I like what I like because it's usually complex and layered (jazz, DEP, etc.). That's not to say everything I listen to is complex, though ;) I'll have to check out The End.

I've found my progression in the past 4 years has been industrial -> metal -> and now I'm getting more into hardcore, which could be considered regression, but I don't care.

-edit-without Catch 33 i think Meshuggah would be just shy of my top 10...I think it's amazing that you can understand the singer's english better when he's screaming/singing than when he's just speaking irl, haha.

Heh, I have eclectic taste, it's not everyday you see Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLachlan mixed in with TISM and Rob Zombie, but there you go.

Probably very few people outside of Australia will know TISM, but you just can't go past a band with a song that includes the lyrics: "I saw his body thrashing 'round, I saw his pulse rate going down, I saw him in convulsive throes and I said 'I'll have one of those!'. I'm on the drug, I'm on the drug, I'm on the drug that killed River Pheonix."

I *love* Visual Audio Sensory Theater. My fav songs have to be Pretty When You Cry, Touched and Somwhere Else To Be (it's a hard list to narrow down). This is an album you can *sing* to and really let go.

In my honest opinion, Pretty When You Cry has to have the most disturbing music video ever made.

Not to be mean, but this my opinion and i'm sure that some other people agree, I'm just going to say it, your selection is boring. Classic from that time period( 1996-1999) is something like Faith no More's "Album of the Year" or Tom Waits "Mule Variations" not garbage.

As for sheryl crow, Rob Zombie and Sarah McLachlan they are as boring as Matchbox 20.

But hey everyone has there likes and dislikes.I guess i could admit that Sarah McLachlan can play the piano pretty well. That's about it though.
