With this 7800 word chapter, "Blue Sun Job" becomes a completed 145,000 word novel...

...written for free. Now does that seem right? ;-)

Such is the Firefly 'verse--it's that compelling (seen the movie how many times?? bought how many dvd sets?? spent how much time writing pro bono??).

Thanks to everyone who read and reviewed. It's much appreciated! And thanks Joss for the creation and all the actors for bringing the characters so vividly to life.

I might post a few more bits to the story--there are several deleted scenes that just couldn't be justified in the story's structure (created unresolved plot elements), and an unwritten section aluded to but not explored about how Mal acquires Serenity and gets weird about touching Zoe. That section is probably 20,000 words, so it's a big maybe.

Truly, a wonderful story and well worth the wait for the ending. If I ran a network, I'd hire you to write;)

Seriously though, this has to be my favorite story in the Firefly fandom. YOu've written it so well and were so dutiful in updates till life interfered. Seriously, there were some points last year w/ all the crap at work that any new chapters by you were the one bright spot of my week. I thank you wholeheartedly for that.

And sadly, I totally ruin anyone who asks me for fic recs because I immediately point them to you. Spoils them for reading fic from anyone else I'm afraid.

I'm sure we'll all look forward to any deleted scenes (or other bunnies) that you deign to gift us with.

Love to! Now to convince Joss *my* take on Mal & Zoe's backstory is really what he meant all along ;-) . I did try to extrapolate and build the case/scenario convincingly from what he's given us so far, but to completely reverse-engineer Joss? Has that ever been done successfully?

Thanks, Jebbypal. This was my first fanfic. I've never done fanfic before because usually I write professionally (i.e. for money

)--a variety of stuff, fiction and non, including some sci-fi. It really surprised me how *fun* "Blue Sun Job" was to write--to write simply for the pure pleasure of it, without regard for markets or editors or strictures of the genre or the job. I got a lot out of rediscovering the simple enjoyment of writing and storytelling. Big damned fun and very rewarding.
