What time for a Chat?

Okay, one thread just to find out what time people want to chat. Or maybe, what time are you chatting. It seems like I always arrive right after everybody leaves, so I figured I ask.
Have you used the chat here? What do you think about it?
Would you like to chat about a special subject each week? What sort of subjects?
When do you want to chat?
Would you rather just drop-in and chat about anything?
Would you be interested in ICQ chats? What about IRC?
This isn't official or anything, I'm just curious. Maybe we can get something set up if we can all agree on a time or two.
Tieka,
to all

Used it. Like it. A date/time stamp would be cool and I'm sure all kinds of bells and whistles could be added, but that's all I feel the lack of.

As a special event, that sounds fine. I don't know that I could say a particular subject though. The Whedonverse, TV, books, music, getting to know people - anything's good.
When do you want to chat?
It would vary, but usually sometime between 7-12 Eastern - no special days. Seems like most people are chatting in the afternoon (Eastern) though, when I've dropped in a few times.
Would you rather just drop-in and chat about anything?
Generally, yeah.
Would you be interested in ICQ chats? What about IRC?
I've never tried IRC - my new browser has a chat client but it freaks me out.
I've also never tried ICQ chat, though I've got ICQ. (I hardly even use the instant messaging on it or anything.) So maybe... I don't know.
Don't know if that was real helpful...

Just a quick note. Not much of an ICQ user myself, but I do have MSN messenger running all the time here on the site. If anyone wants to chat me that way, the address is haken@fireflyfans.net.

the chat on this site is cool...though i seem to be missing everyone :insert sad face of me: there's no emoticon for that one.
Scheduled chats would be good, as long as I can work out the time zone differences.
on the subject of irc, i'm an irc junkie, and there is a #fireflychat channel on irc.atomicchat.net but there never seems to be anyone chatting there, so if anyone is up for irc that could be a place to go.

It seems like alternate chat programs may be nice for private messaging, but not for a group chat. I checked out IRC and it's easy enough to create a temporary room. But if there are no people in it, it goes away. I haven't found a permanent IRC channel for firefly yet. Okay, two things down.---
Fireflyfans.net html chat
Okay, people seem to like that, so I'm going to make an announcement and then people will magically appear at the right time.
-------> July 3, 8pm EDT. Topic will be What was the first Joss Whedon show you ever watched? Did you know that who JW was then?
That puts it after the big Canadian holiday, and before the big American one. I think the time will work for a lot of people. For the Brits it will be around midnight
and for the Pacific Island folk, it will be about 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Well, we can give it a try anyway.
Maybe we can get a lot, I mean a LOT of people.

i think i mentioned this before, but anyways
IRC
/serve irc.atomicchat.net
/join #fireflychat
that is a permanent registered channel, it ain't going anywhere. you can chat about anything, and it's okay to organize a chat topic and time in there, the ops don't mind. i find it easier to chat in there.
also this one is good, they are trying to merge a lot of the chat rooms on the server, so all the important people are here for help and general chatting
/join #Atomic-Chat
again, this another registered channel, it ain't going nowhere either. i'm usually always in both those channels, unless ofcourse, i'm asleep, or i've gone shopping/work, just say my name and the machine will talk to me(just in case i'm not watching the channel).

FOR HAKEN!!!
Sorry i missed you today, I wasn't feeling very well, so no talkies today. Anyways, I did read over some of what you were saying about whether or not #fireflychat was a permanent channel. As to my knowledge, it's not going anywhere. I do know it IS registered, and I spoke to the people who run about you guys going to chat in there, and he gave no indication of the channel going anywhere in the near future. The only way i see it dissappearing is if it continues to attract no interest after the show starts, or #fireflyepisodes, it's...ahh...sister channel doesn't take off either. It is permanent for the now at least, and if it attracts enough interest, it certainly won't be going anywhere. It's not a channel that someone just created on whim, it has a purpose and should hopefully be there for the entire run of Firefly.
But, if you guys want to go somewhere else, that's fine also, i just figured that since it was empty, and just sitting there, we may as well use it. The guy who runs the atomicchat server, MasterTLH is lovely, there's only a handful of active channels on the server, and i didn't even like irc much untill i found this server, it's been a wonderful experience for me personally. I know that sounds corny, but it really is a lovely community.

The IRC channel is great. Personally, I prefer IRC because it's something I'm used to using. The HTML chat I wrote for this site, while it's great at what it does, has one serious drawback--the annoying browser refresh.
I'm working on a solution now to perhaps integrate IRC into this site, but it's still in the early planning stages. Besides, I gotta brush up on my Java.
When are you usually on? I'm probably missing you because of the time difference between us.
