For me: "OoG" because it has ship's history and the story doesn't have any loopholes. It was THE show that caused me to park my butt on the couch even tho I was just passing thru the livingroom. Altho I have to say that I find something to like in ALL of the eps.
For my SO: "Objects in Space" because Jubal Early and River are so interesting
For our daughter: "Jaynestown" because it's so funny.
Please don't think they give a shit.

As everyone's mentioned, it's almost impossible to choose. I LOVE THEM ALL!
However these are my fave faves:
1. Out of Gas. I just like seeing where all the people come from, and the part at the end where Mal picks Serenity even though the guy's trying to sell him a different ship -- it's so cute. I love it.
2. The Message. I love the flashbacks to the war, and when Tracy first wakes up screaming when Simon cuts into him I was so shocked. Also, it's got some of my fave one-liners, like River's "My food is problematic" and Jayne's oh-so-pretty hat.
I don't see plot holes but I'm not really an analyzer.
3. Jaynestown. My all-time fave comedic episode. So many classic one-liners and it's one of the first times that you notice that Jayne has levels. "This must be what going mad feels like."
Those are my top ones but as I said, I love them all.

My favorite is, hands-down, "The Message". I love Jayne's hat. I don't know why, but I'm obsessed with earflap hats. And it's orange. And it's poorly knitted. And it's on Jayne.
Also, the end is just so sad. I really think it's just gorgeous.
Second favorite: "Jaynestown". Lots of Jayne. Really don't need any other reason to watch it. Oh yeah, it's funny too.

1st:"Out of Gas".
I loved this episode cause it showed how the crew got togther and how mal got the ship,i really liked how kaylee joined the crew that was by far the funniest.
2nd:"War Stories".
Just loved the amount of jokes in this episode and the assult on niskas space station with the whole crew helping out.

It's a tie, between War Stories and Out of Gas. Out of Gas makes me tear up everytime, and War Stories is funny as hell. Alan Tudyk has the best facial expressions! Serenity and Safe tie for second and Our Mrs. Reynolds and Jaynestown for third.

I'd have to say "Jaynes Town" or "Out of Gas".
The 1st was really funny and the 2nd gave great insight to how the firefly crew got together and was quite sad with Mal almost buying the farm!

First "Out of Gas". When Mal says "We all die alone." I cry every time. When he asks if they will be there when he wakes up.... oh my.
Second "The Message", the music alone does it for me.
Third "Our Mrs. Reynolds" What is there not to like in this episode?! Mal tempted.... woo hottest thing I've seen in my life! Also great lines and so much fun!

If I'm to be asked which episode I think is best made, the answer would be "Out of Gas", but which one is my favourite?
"Jaynestown" hands down. For following reasons:
- Simon/Kaylee snuggled up on the bench, not looking too innocent 
- Simon tells Kaylee the whole engine grease ordeal
- River corrects the bible (the most *brilliant* sceene *ever*) 
- Book's hair
- Jayne's a "hero" LMAO

My favourite has to be Objects In Space. The opening sequence alone sends shivers down my spine where you get glimpses into each of the characters most hidden thoughts.
Oh and that birds eye view of River surrounded by the leaves, holding the stick/gun and saying something along the lines of 'It's just an object'... I always get the sense that something quite profound has just occurred. Plus, the lines are so, so clever.
However, like misskitten said, the best made episode is Out of Gas. It's so emotionally charged that you can't brush it off with 'ahh, he's the main character and there are more episodes after this, he'll make it' because I don't know about anyone else but there was a moment when I seriously had my doubts.
