Happy Birthday! What does 30 feel like. Honestly, I was really depressed about it. Of course I think that had more to do with circumstances than the actual number. Anyhow, now that I'm approaching 40(couple of years off) it doesn't seem like such a big deal. In fact planning a big blow out. Think getting older as getting braver. Being able to throw off all the junk other people saddle you with and finally being your own gorram self.

It's kind of an inside family joke. My mother's nephew is one year younger than she is (Grandma and grandpa were quite prolific) and when she turned 30, he asked her what it felt like. So the next year she hit him right back with it.

Me, people have been assuming I'm older for years. When I was a teenager people pegged me for being in my twenties. Hit my twenties, they started guessing thirties, mid-twenties and they started guessing mid-forties. God only knows, another five years and they'll start asking questions about my AARP membership.

So it's not that big a deal for me. But thanks for sharing.
