Hey everyone,
On my third viewing of the bdm, I remembered that I was meaning to ask this question. Toward the beginning of Serenity, when Mal and company are preparing to go on the heist, and Simon is arguing with him, they go into the infirmary for a bit, and Simon injects something into Mal's arm.
What the heck was that about?
(Sorry if anyone has already asked that question - new browncoat here)

Well, according to the novelization (which may or mau not be considered the source of all knowledgefullness by Browncoats) before the whole 'fear vs. anger' discussion, Mal says to Simon, in a line I heard in the movie, but didn't understand very well, 'guess I'd better get innocked (as in innoculated) before we touch down'. So I'm assuming it was a vaccine of some kind, or some other preventative measure against some disease or parasite or something on the planet.

They weren't cows inside. They were waiting to be, but they forgot. Now they see the sky, and they remember what they are.
