Oh no. You question. You believe his name to be Jerry Lee Warren. Oh no! Everyone duck and cower under their desks! I feel the great wrath of Sarahetc coming this way! Run!

it's in the production material apparently as it's been quoted that way in more than one place.
I want proof! Let me see it.

sorry it's so important for you to not accept this - and as he doesn't really exist it's really moot.
You are so undeniably right. But I enjoy dully arguing something that really has no importance over a topic that makes everyone upset and seeing red such as from the thread that “shall not be mentioned”.

My man JimmyJames here is onto something!
But I have an idea of how to fix this situation. Got tiny little beginning of a correspondence with Lux, who as y'all may know, has hung out with Adam and Alan. So, I'll see if I can get this question of questions slipped in there. If he's even allowed to tell....

I heard "Jerry Lee" and thought it was hilarious! Jerry Lee Lewis was a wild and crazy rock and roll man. This suits my image of Wash just fine.

I have OMR on my computer right now and I keep listening to that scene over and over again. I hear "Jerry Lee" (very clearly); however, I'm now convinced that the statment Mal makes is directed at Kaylee. Mainly so because of her following line. But he does say "Jerry Lee". Perhaps a blooper?
Though, I do agree with Matt, the character is fictional. I'm thinkin' some people are developing an unhealthy attachment. Star Trek fanatics come to mind.

So you dig Harrison? I disagree with you on Broznin he has that suaveity(Not a real word) that is Bond, he just hasn't had a good script to express it. Broznin fits the profile to a 'T'.
I've never been much of a fan of the Bond films, but loved the books, and I agree with you Talrius. I never would have thought of Brosnin as James Bond, but I think he's done a good job of it, and hopefully he'll get a script that will prove us right.
By way of backing my opinion, I can tell you almost the exact moment I thought he was a good James Bond. I don't remember which movie it was, but I think it was the first one he was in. There was a firefight going on, lots of automatic weapons fire, and Bond was behind cover, reloading his weapon. While he's looking down at the weapon, a bullet ricochets off the wall, and he just tilts his head away, still looking down at what he's doing.
THAT, my friends, is James Bond.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong with you people, Jerry does not sound like Kay. So after Realone crashed my computer many times despite my attempted fixes the file magically opened with a different program despite the fact it wouldn't give me that option before.
And I listened, expecting to hear Kaylee. Sorry, he says Jerry Lee. JERRY. Not Kay, JERRY. I wish that I had noticed it the first time around. It could be a slip on Nathan Fillion’s part, or a slip on Mals part, or a slip on Nathan’s part left to be explained as a slip on Mal’s part. Or it could be that Wash’s name is Jerry Lee, regardless that is what was said.
The way the camera is used implies that Mal was talking to Wash
Wash: We got it! (Mal regards Wash, and the console around him) It’s not pretty but we can steer enough to turn the hell around.
Mal(Facing directly at Wash, head pointed to him, eyes on him): Nice work Jerry Lee.
Close shot of Wash, hugged by Zoe.
Camera goes to Kaylee: Wasn't soon enough to help.
Mal (turns to Kaylee, while looking at her and putting hand on her shoulder): Hey, lot easier to pull things apart than it is to make em’ right. You're still the best damn Mechanic floating.
Sorry guys but he was talking to Wash, you can say that it was just Nathan messing up, but he said Jerry Lee, and he said it to Wash.

Wrong. I wouldn't argue this point any further except that I've got something else to say... but I'll get to that in a minute. P.s. Why do people keep bringing up these annoying ass posts?
For Chris, I don’t have the computer download version of OMR, but I do have the possibly higher quality DVD version from TRS and damn it, I’m listening to it right now, so here is what I’m seeing.
Wash: We got it! (Mal looks around at the working consoles) It’s not pretty but we can steer enough to turn the hell around.
Mal (He is facing forward looking at the working console as Kaylee walks into his line of vision--in front of his and a little to the side-- pulling off her work gloves): Nice work Kaylee.
Close shot of Wash, hugged by Zoë. (Mal congratulated Kaylee, as Zoë is congratulating her husband)
Camera goes to Kaylee as : Wasn't soon enough to help.
Mal (turns to Kaylee, while looking at her and putting hand on her shoulder): Hey, lot easier to pull things apart than it is to make em’ right. You're still the best damn Mechanic floating. (He kisses her)
Now, why would our sweet Kaylee say “it wasn’t soon enough to help” if she didn’t think it was her fault that she fixed it late? She is to nice to say anything mean about it being Wash’s fault and him not getting it fixed “soon enough to help”. So, if she said that in reference to herself then Mal must of said “good work” to Kaylee. Also, Wash was probably pushing buttons and waiting for the console stuff to turn on as Kaylee worked on the mechanical parts that needed fixed shown by her pulling off the work gloves after, I‘m guessing, working under the console, and the fact that she is the mechanic and all.
Okay,
second part. To make a long story short, I was thinking about Zoë and Wash’s relationship today and was wondering if anyone knew, or had any good guesses on how long Zoë and Wash had been married as of “Serenity“. I was thinking about the kind of arguments they’ve have and I can’t decide if they’ve been married for a pretty long while, or if they’re pretty new to each other. I’m just curious.-------------------------------------

I wouldn't respond but you asked. We know that Wash works on his own console, as he is shown doing it before Kaylee is hired. Wash is the one who sets up a push button call us home signal (Out of Gas), and Wash is the one who modifies a beacon (Out of Gas). All of this says that he can work with mechanical/electronic things, and that he does.
Further Wash says “we” did it, meaning him and Kaylee. Once again, look at where Mal is facing, he is looking right at Wash when he says, “Nice work.” Mal makes no indication that he sees Kaylee until she says, “Not soon enough to help.” Sorry but if he says, "Kaylee," it’s hilarious because the truth is that he is speaking to Wash, he would also be doing a lousy job of pronouncing it.
Note how he turns to the person to whom he is speaking, he turns to Kaylee when he speaks to her. I can’t think of an instance in which he does not face the person he is talking to unless there is a pressing reason not to (the only ones of those I’ve noticed is when he is holding a gun on someone else, or someone is holding a gun on him.) Show me one, go ahead, find a place where he is facing in another direction, or looking at someone other than the person he is speaking to. Remember one in which his life or others doesn’t depend on looking somewhere else wouldn't qualify.
You said you have a good quality version, look at his eyes, he is looking right at Wash.
Now I can accept (with difficulty) that Nathan messed up, but the show supersedes the script, so he said it, and now it’s Wash’s name unless something else comes along to replace it.

Ok, I just watched/listened to that scene about 10 times from the download here: http://versaphile.com/download/firefly.html
and Mal definitely says "Kaylee"...if you listen carefully you can absolutely make out the "K" sound. Now perhaps there are other copies of this floating around somewhere with a slightly different quality audio or something that makes it harder to make out, but this version is quite clear.
p.s. 100th post in this thread! Woo-hoo! ;)
