I'm thinking some kind of jazz band ... lets see now ...
Niska, of course, on sax;
Badger would make a cool percussionist; and
Yo-Saf-Bridge would have to be Nico style vocalist ...

I wantto see the operative come back in the third , or maybe the end of the second trilogy as a good gut or at least as someone who helps the crew. That Guy was fricken cool bad guy!
yeah, but the way I see it

Mal and the crew will be fighting the Blue Hand guys, in a corner, almost dead...
when they are suddenly cut down from the rear...
Mal looks up in shock (because he didn't have back up)
and there stands the Operative who says
"they lied to me, they took my life, my name, everything from me...all for a lie"
and he turns and walks away....
Zoe said: "I thought we were goners"
Mal says: "no,
that was Joss' other movie which will also come out through Universal Pictures"

The operative coming in to save them after some hopeless situation.
That would be interesting.

Just my thoughts.

I don't know... with the plaintive way that the Operative said, "There is nothing more to see" (sorry if it's not the exact wording, this is off the top of my head here), I felt he was almost saying he wouldn't be around anymore. Considering the man's dedication to his job, and the way he required it of others when they messed up their part in the work, I had a feeling he might throw himself on his sword. Of course, he also saw the error of it enough to let the Serenity crew go free, so it's possible he's given up that level of extremism.
P.S. I'm a big fan of Badger.
He's a fun character, and the actor plays him well (liked his work on The X-Files too... he's very talented).Sherry
BADGER: Only I think you're still a Sergeant, see. Still a soldier, man of honor in a den of thieves. Well, this is my gorram den, and I don't like the way you look down on me. I'm above you. Better than. I'm a businessman, see? Roots in the community. You're just a scavenger.
MAL: Well, maybe I'm not a fancy gentleman like you with your... very fine hat... but I do business. We're here for business.

Yes but, as I mentioned briefly in another thread, Joss really wrapped up Lindsey's story in Angel. In the episode Dead End, Angel said something like "Don't come back." And Lindsey said he wouldn't. There was no door open that maybe he will and yet he did. This seemed an extreme parallel (I'm quite sure not intentional, just in writing style) while watching Serenity.
I too am a big fan of Badger. Someone mentioned a while back that Badger would have no place in the story, but I think Mal could have been negotiating with him instead of those twins. Don't know why he'd be off Persephone, but if he didn't die, I would have liked to see Badger in Serenity. I still haven't seen that episode of X-Files! I've looked all over, but don't want to buy the box set just to see one episode once.
Above someone asked if Badger is really a bad guy or not. I suppose you're right, but he's really slippery. He did take the crew "captive" (sort of) in Shindig, but he pulled through on the deal, unlike in the pilot where he left them with the stamped goods. Watches his back -- can't blame him for that, but not the highest sense of dignity. And wasn't he selling slaves or something in the pilot?

Oh yeah, Early is dead as Mal says "Air he had left, chance'd be one in
about a very big number.", Line from Firefly transcript on Twiztv.com Also, Dobson was shot in the head in the pilot episode so the only way he's comming back is if Willow suddenly joins the cast.

With Joss, if you don't see him die, there's a chance he's not dead. Heck, if they're DEAD, there's still a chance. As far as Dobson, as mentioned above ...
