Yup. Gimme the series anyday. The BDAM (BigDamnActionMovie) was good as a one-off, but it was a weak follow up the character driven stories of the series.

Yes. I loved the film but it made me sad that we did not have the chance to see it all gradually unfold over many episodes and very sad not to see Books past revealed and the crew's reaction to it.

yes and no...............yes because they never got to tell Book's story and Wash would probably still be alive; and no because the movie really was an event you went through with all the characters.

I'd've kept the series, with the movie events as season 2.
And with the full knowledge that, if the series had gone on long enough, we'd be getting a movie anyway. (Though obviously not the same movie.)
And an ongoing comic series. And a novel series. And a video game or three. . .

It's certainly in my top 10. Of course, rating movies is entirely subjective, so I base Serenity's ranking on how much it affected me. Which was, well, you know. . .a lot.

I just don't like the assumption that if Serenity is in your top 10, you're somehow ignorant when it comes to film. Besides, I personally don't even really like top 10 lists that much. They're too limited. They exclude entirely too many films (and we can't be excludin' films, 'cause that'd be rude) that I probably love just as much, like Chinatown, The Godfather: Parts I & II, Alien, Dawn of the Dead, The Maltese Falcon, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Miller's Crossing, Fight Club, Memento, Big Trouble In Little China, Léon, Ed Wood, etc. . .
Oh, and to answer the question of the post: I think that, as much as I love the BDM, I'd still love to see it played out over the course of a season. Of course, it might not have been the pure, concentrated awesome that the film was, but it would have allowed for more smaller character moments, and that's always a good thing.

I'm with everyone on the rather have it on tv point. But don't think for a minute that I'm not very glad for the movie, and the whole past three years in this 'verse. In some ways, FOX cancelling it was pretty neat, if they never did, then we may never know how completely awesome and dedicated us Browncoats are, and I think the long road we've been on helps us appreciate the movie more. However, I would in some ways rather have more tv seasons. I LOVE tv, I love being able to grow and change with the characters, and to throw a pillow at your tv when the bad guys are on, or when some shipper you don't like is kissing (I've actually done that lol), and to laugh and cry over the period of several months, not just a couple of hours. And I think Firefly is just better suited for tv. The best thing in my opinion, would be a continuation or the series after Serenity, cause we already have all the memories of the past three years, and our BDM, and we would get to experience many more detailed adventures with the crew. But thats just my dream lol :)

Echoing most of you, the film was great & i'm very glad for it, but it wasn't Firefly. I don't need a big (well little) budgit film with dazzling effects. That's not what i fell in love with. I fell in love with the characters & how they interacted. That was in short order in the film. There's just no time for it. I did like seeing the verse, the different locations the crew went. That was a highlight of the film, but the characters suffered for it. While we were enjoying the eye-candy we weren't getting Kaylee pining over Simon, or River pulling out pages of Books broken symbol of faith... that i missed dearly.

I am with you, Chrisisall. I think the Firelfy fan base became incredibly loyal and fervent because of the cancellation, and the rush I got out of seeing the movie 5 times in theatres full of enthralled viewers made it all worthwhile.
I would have loved to have more episodes of the show, but I am extremely happy with the way things turned out.
