'BDM' Phrase Origin

Forgive me, but I'm a new browncoat. Only discovered this gem of a series 2 weekes ago. Ever since, I've been scouring the interweb to gain more info on the series. Something I noticed almost immediately were the letters "BDM" scattered everywhere over forums and such. After a little searching I realized it was just an abriviation for Big Damn Movie.

Could someone please explain in full the orgin of the phrase "Big Damn Movie" with regards to Serenity? Was it a phrase that was coined by Joss himself as a kind of kick in the face to others that didn't believe in his work? Or was it something invented by someone in the community, and then just stuck?

In the episode Safe when Mal and Zoe save Simon and River from being burned there is the following exchange:

MAL
Well, look at this! Appears we got here
just in the nick of time. What does
that make us?
ZOE
Big damn heroes, sir.

MAL
Ain't we just.

Browncoats then started to refer to the cast as Big Damn Heroes (BDH).

Then Big Damn was put in front of other things:
Big Damn Movie (BDM)
Big Damn Series (BDS)
Big Damn Board (BDB)

I prefer BDG myself (the Big Damn Goal - of getting a sequel).
