beautiful work!
I think it should have a more 'burned in atmo' look
and banged up (like it has hit stuff, and been hit by stuff) with dents

but it is amazing...

and I could talk about Reavers, and what they do all day,
but anything I saw would be spoilery
and based on seeing the Advanced Screening...
so god forbid.

But Reavers IS scary!

I use Lightwave 3D ... Thanks for the comments everyone. I intend to finish this model sometime in the next few months. I want to grunge it up and add more detailing.

I was wondering if you'd care to share a beta version of the model for the 3d firefly game we're working on...

as you can see, http://vegastrike.sf.net Vega Strike has many mods and we'd like to see firefly as one of those mods... if you could send even incomplete ship models to there then we could use them as placeholders while you polish the ship...

a pristine version of the ship would also be cool so it could be used for a civvie transport :-)

Hmm.. Needs more blood. j/k. Speaking of reavers I have a few questions I have stuck on my mind regarding them. Anyone is welcome to take a guess. Are there any female reavers, you think? I couldn't spot any and it doesn't make sense for there not to be if 10% were affected by the "PAX", some of that percentage had to fall on at least some women. (Maybe most, Ha!) Also, why don't reavers get ugly towards one another? Instead of working together which kind of throws me off as far as their priorites go (eating people alive and such). Hey don't sweat it, they're already terrifying enough. In fact I left the theater quite shaken from the after effects of witnessing such a character brought to life.

I think I'm nitpicking :P

Isn't the front supposed to be a lot more "messed up"? Or were you trying to do the way the ship looked before the Reavers meddled?

A tenth of a percent: 0.1%

I've seen so many people get that wrong. . .

And yes, the shooting script does make reference to female Reavers. There's supposed to be one on Lilac (where the bank was), but she's apparently either been cut out or she passes through the frame so quick we can't see her.

They surely do. When Serenity first arrives at Miranda, we can see what appears to be a Reaver ship getting ripped apart by one of its fellows. Plus that spotlight that tracks Serenity made me think she was being sized up as prey, then dismissed as too healthy --not worth the effort to take her down. Then there's the one that tried to attack them as they were leaving (meaning that it was either smart enough to realize they weren't really Reavers, or just didn't care).

I'm thinking Reavers are pack hunters --each ship is held together by the toughest and most dangerous Reaver aboard. Most of life is a threat assessment; if anyone shows weakness (or is stupid enough to attack, like Serenity) they become a target, but otherwise, self-defense lends itself to teamwork, of a sort.

Reavers don't want to die if they can help it, and the best reason to work with someone is 'cause they could kick your ass (and then eat it). It's not so much loyalty, but fear of the Alpha dog.

Besides, group hunting means they can bring down bigger & better prey. If they were truly rabid, the best one could hope for would be to kill everyone on one's ship, then slowly starve to death. By working together, they ensure plenty of prey for the forseeable future.

Savage is scary. Savage and moderately cunning is even scarier.
