Went again tonight, 4th viewing. Larger group than any previous show I went to, though not capacity.
Oddly, this group was less responsive than some of the smaller crowds. Still heard several good laughs (Kaylee's "nethers" lament, Jayne's follow-on to that, and River's "bug" are surefire).
A girl behind me screamed aloud when the Reaver pops out from behind River in her dream sequence.
One thing happened this time that I hadn't noticed before, though. When Wash began his third and last "I am a leaf...", there was a pretty big laugh -- which turned into a huge gasp a moment later.
I think that's exactly what Joss intended in this scene: to change a moment of tension-relief laughter into instant shock. For that, the timing was perfect. When I heard the laughter start, I was thinking, "oh, you people are about to get smacked"... and they did.
Manipulative, yes. But so, so powerful.

Yeah, the girl screaming at any appearance of the Reavers would be me, actually.

After being traumatized by the last 30 minutes of the movie a friend told me I'd feel better if I went again cause she did. I did and it helped.
Well the 2nd time around with a room full of browncoats I waited for Leaf smack down moment and I looked away ever so slightly.
There was the HUGE gasp of NO! and right after it:
"That shit is just not right!"
Don't worry. I'll shoot you politely.

when I saw them fire upon the Reaver ship just above Miranda
not really funny, but I said "why bother recruiting when you can drag one right behind you" I thought it hilarious

When the blast doors roll back and there's our little precious River standing in the middle of a HUGE pile of dead reavers, blood dripping off those nasty sharp pointy things.. drip, drip.. and in that little quiet moment, I hear a voice...
"is she single ?!"
I about snorted my popcorn.

I'm pretty sure at about that point I whispered "goddess..." Because she was. My boyfriend said later he hadn't realized how hot River was until that shot. She was fucking beautiful. That's it--I'm turning bi.
Our theater didn't have any yelling, but lots of laughter, and clapping at the ends. There might have been an "ooooh" when Kaylee told Mal "go tell that to Inara" and a "noo" when

Wash died,
but otherwise it was pretty quiet.
A friend and I went 2x2 hands of blue.

Early: Where'd she go?
Simon: I can't keep track of her when she's NOT incorporeally possessing a spaceship, don't look at me --

At my 4th viewing when Mal was watching the vid of Inara. The moive went quite and I could a man with a deep voice saying "Well a companion is a classy whore." Everyone in the theater heard that explanation and there was more than a few laughs.

*kind of spoilers for the EXTREMELY sensitive*
I was at the midnight showing the night Serenity came out in my area. During the credits when the accoustic version of "Ballad of Serenity" was playing, the entire audience began singing along. It was a great fan moment.

[quote=Cleaner]Funny thing about Australian cinemas, no body talks. We fear the specail hell!
If that's the case, then the theatre I took my mother to was downright noisy.

There were gasps at the Wash death scene, as well as laughter beforehand. Strangely enough, when I first went to see it, I was the only one laughing. Maybe everyone else had already seen it.
Oh, and...

When the Operative walks away after talking with Mal, some dude in front of me said, "He's going to fall on his sword now."
I was sorely tempted to say, "No, he's going to buy a puppy and name it Dumpling!" But again, my mother was there and she hadn't seen the movie, so...
Dammit, I need to see the BDM again. Three times should be a new record for me.
The first time I saw the movie, I secured my place in the special hell along with Joel, Mike and the 'bots by saying:
