I understand that completely, and I don't mind going to see it alone. I'm just surprised that most of my friends aren't in any rush to see it. These are the same friends that lined up to see the first screening of Star Wars 3 at a midnight show. I wouldn't care one bit if the opening weekend had better numbers. As it stands, If Serenity doesn't draw a substantial sum more than what it's earning in theaters, The Serenity universe will be dead for sure.

Here is my problem: people who have watched Firefly, claim to be a huge fan, and are skipping Serenity. A good friend of mine who watched Firefly with me from the beginning, and when it was cancelled was just as angry as I was has not seen Serenity, and as far as I know doesn't plan on seeing it in the theater. Sort of perplexing I guess. I even offered to pay for his ticket and buy him a Pepsi, still nothing. I don't get it. The comic shop I go to has the same laid back attitude. while all the regulars claim to "love" Firefly, none of them have seen it. I don't know if they are just waiting for the dvd release, but it seems to me if you like Firefly you would be there on opening weekend. This truly will be the end for the entire Firefly verse if this is the way it is. These"fans" are killing the true believers. I'm sad, so I will go now.

I personally won't criticize those who can't go for reasons. If you just can't, then so mote it be.

If they are waiting for the crowds to tone down, ok. If they are waiting for the DVD, ok. It's all going into the profit pile for the movie.

But I will criticize those who say, man I love that show! It kicked ass! I'm such a fan! Then say, meh, don't want to see it. Or who cares. But, I'm still a fan/Browncoat, woot.

It's a contradiction in terms that I'm seeing there. And I find it totally acceptable to call people on it if that is the case.

I'll admit that I had to get reaquainted with the series when I heard there was a movie coming out. When the show was first on the air, I made an effort to check it out everyweek, at least see ten or fifteen minutes of it, but when the time slot kept changing, I kind of lost track of it. But, a few months ago, I saw the box set at a store and thought, "Huh. I really enjoyed that show when it was on, so it's worth the thirty five bucks" and I watched the entire series over the next two day, stopping only for classes and food. And now that Serenity is out, I've seen it two times and have used the money I do my grocery shopping with to fund the screenings. Also, my friends and I have gotten three people to buy the box sets and see the movie with us. So, I'm trying to make up for lost time.

If a new Matrix or Star Wars movie were to be released, my friend would be there opening day. But Serenity...it's not even on his radar,and he claims to rate Firefly in between the two.

I don't watch much tv, and since Fox didn't do that great of advertisment for Firefly, i never got to see it when it was first aired. And i really wish that i had. But i have made up for that at much as i can, i have rented the DVDs from the video store until i was able buy it. I've watched it over and over till i can quote along with it. Just being the way i am, i hate it when people claim to be a fan, but don't go and see the movie. I wanted to see the nonexistant midnight showing and i went to see it friday night all dressed up. But then i never saw it when it was first aired so i dunno if i would be able to call myself a browncoat.

I had to take my friends to see it and i don't know if they will even want to see it again because my friends love Wash. As much as i love Wash, it's not going to stop me from loving it and seeing it again.

Zoe: "If she can fly the ship, why take the shuttle?"

You gotta remember that most comic book fans today opt to wait for a trade paperback, rather than get the individual comics. Quite often, that leads to the first TPB of the series being the last as well. And then these 'fans' complain that no new series can break in.

Well, duh. You're not supporting it, so why should someone who's trying to make money oblige you? They'll keep making Spider-Man and Hulk and Star Wars and crappy remakes of teevee series 'till the end of time, 'cuz that's what sells...

I don't know why people say they don't know if they are a Browncoat or would be allow (however you wish to put it) to call themselves a Browncoat. So, I'll give my criteria.

If you are a fan of the series/movie and have got caught up in the passion that is FF, then you are a Browncoat.

Or really, you can call yourself a Browncoat. Fine if you don't wanna.

But, IMO, if you've caught the bug enough to post and have conversations about the series/movie online (kinda like here), that qualifies you.

So, welcome my fellow Browncoats! May be rejoice in our wonderful 'verse together
