A friend that I took was kind of in shock at alot of the disturbing imagery, and when River started throwing up, all he could say was "Dude. For real." haha.

I usually love to watch movies in absolute silence so I can concentrate and I don't have people in my ear during important scenes saying: "and who was he again?" That being said, I saw the first showing of Serenity here in Aus. (at least the first on the release date) and the crowd was awesome. They reacted with every appropriate emotion at the right time, just as if they were die-hard fans. In fact most probably were, given that those who stayed til the end credits joined me in a little sing along over the instrumental version of the Firefly theme. It was great to see the emotion coming from the crowd, and inspiring to see everyone so involved. I didn't even mind when people were whispering their encouragement to the screen during the flick. Hell, I was right there with them.

Say no more. Evil's still afoot and I'm almost out of that Nancy-boy hair-gel that I like so much. Quickly to the Angelmobile, away!

This was before I was in the theater (I was at the concession stand):

Girl behind counter: Nice hat! How many times have you seen it?

Yep I was there in my Blue Sun shirt and Jayne Hat. So nice to meet another fan, too bad we didn't have time to talk longer since the movie was starting in 5 mins.

An older guy took exception in a good way. All rather amusing.

I thought it was extremely encouraging to see such a diverse audience -- yes, you never know who is a Browncoat.

As we were gathering our coats to leave, I heard a big fella -- 6'5", at least, and probably pushing 270 lbs. -- decked out in a ripped jean jacket and blue mohawk hairdo say to his friend:

The crowd was still laughing uproariously at the "leaf on the wind" reprisal when -- well, you know -- and the reaction was explosive. I heard "No!" from at least a dozen mouths and a number of pained cries, my own included.

In the theater on opening night, 7:35p showing (Santa Cruz, CA) somebody passed out lyrics and started a sing-along of "The Hero of Canton" It was priceless!

I hung around after all three shows and there were groups of people each time, just standing and sitting around, inside and outside of the auditorium, discussing the movie. I heard exclamations about the effects, funny lines being repeated and lots of questions about why the pilot had to die. But my favorites were, "This show was on TV? When? Why didn't I ever see it? Is it coming back?"

Afterwards, I was stuck in traffic and he pulled up next to me and STARTED ASKING ME MORE QUESTIONS! I was shouting answers back to him until traffic started moving again. I told him about this site and invited him to learn more about the show from us. He had started watching the SciFi channel's Friday night shows and got hooked. He was really upset to learn that this was not a new show that the movie was an introduction to. When I told him the show was from 2002 and only had a partial season before it was cancelled, he was stunned. As am I to this very day (FOX).

I can't imagine us not getting another movie out of this. It's just that good.

Just came back from a viewing - there were a couple of people behind us who had never seen the series - bless 'em! Good to see the newbies coming in.

One, though, was saying after the show how amusing he found it that the big tough guy was named "Jan".
