There was an observation on another thread that there didn't seem to be the same kind of organized efforts to market Serenity "in the trenches" as there was in attempting to save Firefly: billboards, trade ads, etc.
Well, let's do something about that. In response on that thread, I gave this link ( http://www.fireflymovie.com/guerilla_ideas.html), as well as a couple of additional things I'm doing/planning:
1) color print slips of paper and stickers (6-to-a-page) with the serenity shield and the message ">Can't Stop the Signal..." and " www.serenitymovie.com", and leave them around places I go. Stick one on the side of a construction baricade or garbage can, leave the papers on the shelf at the grocery store, on the table with the tip in a restaurant, on the floor of the empty elevator, on the car parked next to me in the lot as I'm leaving....WHEREVER
2) take out a classified ad in the local paper in the "Special Notices" (or other "greeting"-type) section with the same tagline/website. I may change it up with other tags and do one ad month in July, August and September. Still working it out. But it's a cheap endeavor, and will catch some people's eyes...
We could organize regionally to rent billboards, both the traditional and mobile kinds, via donations...I'd be willing to co-ordinate anyone on this board in Wisconsin and Illinois (and Iowa? Indiana? Michigan?) who wanted to go in and attempt to purchase some advertising space in our area. I haven't investigated rates, yet, but here's some things from google:

check your local companies for ideas and rates, too.

One bit of advertizing that we have been doing for the movie and for the Orlando Premiere Shindig , is putting up posters in the local science fiction and game stores. ( http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=4126)
It doesn't really reach the crossover audience (ie the mundanes), but it does give us some more exposure with genre fans.

Very cool poster! What you should do is ask each of those who register for the party to commit to making an honest effort to convert one non-believer, and bring that person to see the film in the first weekend (either as part of the party or not). Even if the posters are aimed at folks already within the "genre" base, they are your footsoldiers, man!! They know people on the outside, and can work on them!!
If we look at this like a true subversive underground effort, and work accordingly (think about what Joe McCarthy's worst communist nightmares must have been like), we *could* just shock our ownselves with our success come the first week in October when the numbers are all tallied up!
