I've been to two showing and both were not quite half full. Maybe it's just 'cuz Richmond sucks when it comes to stuff and junk - god, I hope so.

Please tell me the theater was full when you went! I'm feeling most pessimistic just now.

Wish I could. I went at 7:15 last night (Friday -- opening night), and we were about a fourth full. It was one of the really big theaters, so a fourth full is still pretty full, but we did not pack 'em in.

Whjat was promising was that, when we were walking out, there was a line forming for the 9:30 show. Seemed like a decent crowd for that one.

If Serenity is going to be big, it's going to have to be by word of mouth. Advertisement, as far as I have seen, has been sparse, so it's up to us. And so far, my friends and neighbors have not responded to "It's going to be a great movie. Trust me." Maybe, now that I have seen it, they will responded better to "It is a great movie."

We did it with the DVDs; we can do it again.

There were a total four people in my theater, including me. Granted, it was the local "not-so-good" theater, but i guess that doesn't excuse it?

Denver area Browncoats rented a really nice, big theater for a 12:01 premier. We had (I'm guessing) between 150 and 175 there.

I was at the 1:20 first showing yesterday and there were about 30-40 people in the theater. I went again for the 10:20 showing and they had sold out one screen and the second one (the one I went to) was about 75% full! I heard that the 7:30 showing sold out as well. I believe that they did not originally plan on multiple screens. When they normally do that, they stagger the times to get more people in. The fact that they had two showings at the same time indicated to me that it's a lot more popular than the local cineplex expected. Of course the movie was outstanding!!!

We had about...70-90 people? Smallish theater, about seven to ten rows empty. I would have preferred a COMPLETELY packed house, but as I was leaving the theater, there were lines for tickets, so I have to assume people would be showing up for the next showing.

Friday 10:15, at the only theatre in eastern Rochester NY (second biggest city in NY outside of NYC) playing the movie, approx 40 people. Asking someone leaving the 7pm showing (the only 2 of the night), they said "under half".

The audience laughed at all the right places. Overheard a couple angrily saying they didn't see the scene from the trailer with the "oh god oh god" quote. (they must have come in late). overheard another couple saying, great movie, but man why'd they kill the pilot, he rocked.

We got to the Signature theater in Fresno with about 30 minutes to spare. I was at first unhappy to see that there were very few filled seats. However, as it got closer to showtime, it filled up nicely. It wasn't sold out but there were a lot of people.

I was interested to see just who these people were--all ages, all races, big groups like ours(eight), couples, singles. EVERYONE loved it! Afterwards people stayed through the credits and talked.

Fresno has no Browncoat community that I have discovered, but there are obviously fans. In fact, a few from our group became fans last night. I'm the obsessed one, my son's girlfriend is a big fan, their three friends had heard of it and had seen maybe a couple of episodes, and my husband had never watched a complete show all the way through. And they all loved it, as did I.

When we went out to dinner afterwards, Jennifer's sister called. Jennifer raved about the BDM and urged her to go see it. Robin wants her parents to see it. At least four of us are going to see it again this morning. I'll see it at least once more after that this weekend, talk it up at work, and I'll see it again next weekend.

I saw it at the AMC Esquire in St. Louis, at the 7:20 show. I'd say we were about 2/3 full.
