DId it take a while when you downloaded the Big Damn Soundtrack on your Mac with Safari? I have the "Requesting content and license" phrase up there for five minutes now at fiver optic internet speeds, so i'm a bit befuzzled.

I want my soundtrack, gorram it!

Now that the tracks can actually be played/burned/used in the gorram first place, the question is: exactly where does each track (and each cue in those tracks with multiple cues) come from in the series? Cos some are obvious, some, not so much.

River's Perception? River Understands Simon? River's Afraid? River's Eyes?

Hmmm... there's the theme there, it seems...

Anyways, once this gets worked out I might split the multiple-cue tracks down into their constituent parts, the better to use them with, oh, a Firefly RPG session, for example

"My God - you're like a trained ape. Without the training."
"Come a day there won't be room for naughty men like us to slip about at all..."
I know the secret.

Forgive if this has already been posted (cover art):

Oops, only meant to post the link. Looks like it's opening the image itself. Hope I'm not breaking any direct-link rules here....

Thankyou for all the info people. I was nearly resigned to not buying it. With a lot of effort I was able to download it. Of course, their website crashed Firefox 1.0.7 but just about worked in 1.5 beta. And that stupid flash application decided to start freezing on my part way through until I cleared my cache and cookies. I lied and told it that I was in the United States (thanks for the tip) .

Thankyou to whoever it was at Fox Music who had the sense to provide it in MP3 format. I bet they must have had hundreds of complaints about the wma DRM. The 192kbps MP3s are not variable bitrate unfortuantely but still thats much better than 128kbps wma.

The music is very nice but there are several great pieces from the series that are missing. I guess that there's just so much music they couldn't include it all.

^^

Considering that the album is only 39 minutes long, and a CD is 74, there's a lot they could have included.

Still, it's good that they came around and provided something that works. I e-mailed Customer Support directly (since I already had an ongoing conversation with them regaridng the crap WMA files they initially posted) and thanked them for their help, and asked them to pass along to the marketing department my thanks for quickly resolving the entire issue by providing files that aren't hobbled by DRM. I also suggested to them that they stand a better chance of combating piracy by providing a decent product at a fair price than by treating all of their customers as potential criminals before the fact.

Thanks to the posts here, I went back and dowloaded the zip file - the new one (thankfully, they kept the link the same!) and am now listening to Firefly for the first time on my shiny stereo system, instead of on my tiny PC speakers, and it's great!

I really love Jubal Early's theme; the oboe is perfect for this! :D

It just sounds so frickin' great, doesn't it? Not just Early's music, but the whole thing. The first time the bar fight music played I had a big grin on my face! Hee hee!!

I downloaded it via Safari on my Mac with no issues. I don't have a proxy server set up, am on 1.5meg broadband connection and running Mac OS X 10.4.2 and Safari 2.0.1 (412.5)

I hope things work out... music is fantastic (and yes, 192Kb for songs except Theme song - sorry!).

Regards,
Shane.

You give me hope, fellow mac-user. Unfortunately the gorram hudan Fox site is still not working for me. Or rather, it worked well enough to take my money and now refuses to let me access anything at all.

Done it. Thanks for your advice. Though I was getting a bit annoyed when it wouldn't accept my state. Turns out New York isn't accepted but NY is. I'm downloading the album as I type this.

Can't wait

I hate to advocate this sort of thing, but it looks like it'll be the only way folks like me in the UK will get our hands on it

Needy. Male Companion a.k.a. First Boy Whore of Destiny

This is weird - I am in Australia, used my Australian address and phone number etc, and my Australian Visa card and it worked fine yesterday.

You are selecting UK from the Country drop-down box? Yes?

Regards,
Shane.
