Hell, I'm not even American and this concept bugs the hell out of me.

Sorry to hear you had to wait for parts while nonsense like this was/is going on. Sheesh. Sounds like someone somewhere in the decision-making chain could use a butt-ectomy for their hindquarters. Just a theory, you know, but one I suspect will prove out. :-/

wow that is very shocking isnt kevlar vests good enough cosmetic surgery is allready negatively seen i think its still quite awsome so long as it can be intergrated into the cosmetic ideal desires of the soldiers. and what about men why dont they devellop nanosized ultra mince materials to be grafted on the entire body whoa now thats scary!lol new defenses enevitably means new adapted weapons such as ones that may not even employ bullets maybey a new form of killing device

cause erm, a counseller would just be a silly option...

On a practical note:

The docs and nurses are on salary. The ORs are paid for already.

The only real expenses are for the implants themselves and disposables--gloves, gowns, etc.

It DOES give the surgical staff practice (only if they have no other procedures to do, though).

The actual dollar outlay is negligable.

In a civilian hospital, the major expenses are debt retirement on the facility and paying the staff (and of course the bureaucrats & drones who deal with billing and reimbursements). None of these apply in the VA system.

yah but would they make them bigger and would they still be saline based underneath the kevlar ?
would they take out the mamogramary (excuse my languague lol!)fat to be able to fit the actual implants. bottom line implants are a bad idea contrived by hollywood,the porn industry (ugg ihate that!) and used by narcissists. ido believe in them for breast cancer cosmetic reconstruction very tragic and traumatising breast cancer is;nobody should have to go through that.
i jus t think it's rediculous that the millitary would further subject women to the subconcious superficial ideals of western society. on alighter note if i joined the canadian forces i would love some fine looking breasts underneath those combat uniforms of female soldiers............so long as they are all naturalLOL!!!!!!!!:)

I'm depressed. Can I join the army and get 'muscle enhansement' implants? I need to look like Arnold, but want to avoid steroids and heavy lifting.

Actually, I watched this procedure once (actually, twice--one patient, both breasts--technically, a bilateral augmentation)

Nothing is removed, a horizontal slit wide enough to insert two fingers is made where the underside of the existing breast meets the chest, and the implant is wiggled in between the existing breast and the muscles of the chest wall. Fascinating to watch.
