Hmmmm.... yes, and this is clearly indicative of several complex social layers. Firstly it shows that you are still in the initiation, or 'liminoidal' phase of induction as it were. You are still rubbed clean, betwixt, lying outside the general framework of the community - until you are brought into the fold.
Secondly, your pain-staking fieldwork studies on this 'trick' culture have lots of merit. But it is clear that further needs to be done...

I wonder if these tricks also play a further 'realease valve' function within the society, allowing each trickster to temporarily release social hierarchical tensions at play.

Went to see red eye last night and I saw the Serenity trailer!
I was so pleased!! It's the only reason I went!
The film was pretty good too.
