Serenity sponsors WWE Raw

I was watching Raw tonight (Yes, I still watch wrestling) and when they listed the sponsers the last one was "Universal pictures Serenity coming out Sept. 30".
They did not show any previews or anything but it is only the start of the month. Usually when a movie sponsers Raw they build it up over the month and some times the week of the opening they have one or more of the stars on the show itself.
So, I started thinking, is wrestling the best place to promote our movie? Will they keep promoting it and will any BDH show up on the show? I will say I was excited to see a mention of the movie and we really had better start seeing more mentions elsewhere in the next couple of weeks.

Don't be too ashamed, you're not the ONLY one that still watches wrestling. I noticed the same thing myself tonight. Glad to see the movie is going to get at least a little bit of publicity outside the sci-fi viewing audience. Raw is probably a pretty good show to cater to the younger demographic as well. I really don't see Serenity getting a LOT of publicity on Raw, but a little is better than none!

At first I thought: OMG WRESTLING, ICK!!!!
But as insane spike points out, this is exposure outside the sci-fi genre.
Frankly, if Serenity isn't a sci-fi movie (as in, when you sell it to non-sci-fi-geeks) what is it?
Well, it's a western, on a tactile level, so that sort of translates to people whacking each other.... and there is that WWE move jayne pulls on the guy in the trailer, maybe that was a publicity stunt. 
But admitedly, I wish i could think of a better place to put a Serenity ad than wrestling. Because ultimately.. wrestling=ick. :(
I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!

Over at the WWE site they are now having a Serenity sweepstakes. The winner gets a trip for two to Universal California and tickets for an upcoming WWE event. They also have photos from the movie and a preview.

So it would seem that they will be promoting the movie quite a bit as the 30th draws closer. It will be interesting to see if any BDH appear on one of the wrestling shows.
