Don't know if this has been mentioned already or not but....there is now official word that a movie based on the game Halo will be coming out in 2007.

I still can't decide if this is good or not. This has the potential to be really good, or extremely crappy. Any other Halo fans have some thoughts on this?

I said this for the Splinter Cell movie and I'm going to say it for the Halo movie. There are some things in this game that cannot be translated to the big screen. Halo fans will remember when the Flood first came. Remember the fear? Facing an opponent that you knew nothing about and having it swarm everywhere. Running for cover and using all your ammunition only to discover that they kept coming. They can never put this intensity forward in a movie. Never. It won't be the same.

I will say that when I heard the news, I was ecstatic! Now, I'm quite worried. Have any of you ever read the book series? If they base the movie on these books, it could be REALLY good. If they don't, it could be shite. I don't see anyone being able to come up with a plausible one script shot. We can only hope it doesn't suck!

I wonder if Julie Benz ( aka Darla ) will be involved w/ the movie.

I've got mixed emotions on this one. Since they put about as much work into making the game as they do for a feature movie, why not ? But then I think....why? It's a movie. I can't PLAY a movie. And how much more popular do they think a movie will make the games?

I've not read any of the Halo books I didn't even know there were any.

I have 3 things that I think will make it not be crap:

1. Bungie is taking serious pains to make sure it doesn't become the next Super Mario Bros Movie, by keeping authentic to the games.

2. I've heard the Peter Jackson (Lord of the Rings, King Kong) is one of the producers.

And most important,

3. Uwe (toilet) Boll is nowhere near it!

I really hope it rocks. Peter Jackson is working on the film as producer, along with Fran Walsh. Also, WETA is on hand for all physical\digital effects, and the entire movie is being shot in New Zealand.

I have found halo to be a good firefly conversion tool while playing online i gun people down until they watch firefly and then they come back asking for more its very fun
