Serenity is Coming. Update your sigs!!!

Well, it's the home stretch people. Pretty soon even the 'unwashed masses' will be getting hit with shiny Serenity promos and ads. Let's reinforce the official ad campaign with something more grassroots and 'viral-marketingy' by having everyone change their e-mail and web forum sigs to simply say:

Serenity is coming. 9/30/05.

That's mysterious enough that it will get people asking about it, or at the very least noting it so they will remember it later when they see a movie listing, ad or trailer...

(I'm also looking into getting some simple white-on-black bumper stickers printed)

lol I've had that exact phrase as my sigs since Serenity was still in its "might be a straight to DVD release" stages.

More recently (since the prescreening) it's been Serenity- GREATEST FILM IVE EVER SEEN, in cinemas 30/09/05

But this is a good idea, I've got a couple of boards talking about it. I've got no doubt that the quality of the movie will make it a gradual success, but if people get talking then it could be instantly huge, which'd be great!

Or you could do it like that one Simpson's with Gabbo. Bart and Homer are sitting on the couch watching TV and out of nowhere a commercial goes

"GABBO! GABBO! GABBO!"

Turns out it was just about a puppet, but was enough for the whole town to wonder about it, and the day Gabbo finally came everyone wanted to know who it was, and went to see it, so I'm thinking...

"SERENITY! SERENITY! SERENITY! SEPTEMBER 30TH!!!"

It's almost TOO genious...

Of course, I also started a Serenity thread on the board I am usually on. Started it at midnight on September 1st. Making daily updates at the very least. People seem interested.

I saw Serenity last night. my favourite movies are Back to the Future and Amélie. but in all honesty, I don't think I've ever enjoyed a film this much.

By the way, I think this picture makes a great avatar if you crop it and resize it to whatever size your forums/boards allow:

(it looks good as low as 150x150, but 100x100 pixels starts to get sketchy...)
