Out of date, I know, but I just saw this .......... http://dryope.typepad.com/superfly/

Somewhat surprised to see a fan site rip the BDM. Guess ya can't please everyone, but still.....

I've had recent emails with her since I ordered a Jayne hat. At least she said she would be interested in reading my review when I finish with it and send her a link. I wasn't thrilled with everything about Serenity myself the first time around, but on second viewing I liked it a lot more, and I intend on seeing it quite a few more times too. Perhaps I can convince her to give it another chance.

I too had my...concerns w/ the BDM, but overall I really liked. For me, it wasn't perfect, but what the hell? We GOT THE MOVIE! It's what Joss wanted, so I'm cool w/ that.

What got me was that a fan who went to the lengths of putting up a dedicated page to our BDH would have such a negative response to Serenity

Fan doesn't mean brain dead follower. I haven't seen it, but I was spoiled, and the moment Firefly died for me. I suddenly see the value of braindead hollywood movies: You don't care that much - that can be a bonus.

You guys are giving me a pit in my stomach with this talk.

I think it can be only one of two things - either the quality of the movie didn't meet expectations, or a certain event takes place that would be a spoiler to even speculate about, but something which Joss is famous for springing on his fans - get what I mean?

I can't even decide if I want to know which it is. If it's the first, it'll make my nightmare about a bad Ebert & Roeper review that much worse!

Yours Truly,
Suddenly-Stressed

Remember, not everybody has the same taste as you. In fact, lots of really good (or even great) movies have their ardent detractors, even from former fans of the people involved.

One random blogger does not amount to anything, statistically.

My post contains spoilers, so read it at you own peril:

I thought his/her ugh was more along the lines of they killed of some of the best characters... which is the feeking I'm left with after reading the following comments...
In which case its not the movie, just the fact that they killed people off...

I was so emotionally drained by the movie that I couldn't articulate much of anything after the movie. It just stuck in my mind for days. Fortunately I got to see it again and again and now I can say, I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!! I see a movie every week and it's the best movie I've seen this year.

That's right, better than Batman and March of the Penguins. WAY BETTER!!!

I have to say, despite my obvious bias (I post here for chrisakes) it is one of the best action or sci-fi movies I have ever seen...
Not the best movie I've ever seen...
that would probably be shawshank redemption, how powerful was that flick?
But serenity certainly deserves to be watched and seen by many as a very very good film on its own...
IMHO...

I'm a bit confused as to who/what it is you're talking about. You've not seen the BDM, and you think it's a brain-dead-hollywood-movie?? Are you saying Joss doesn't care that much? Or maybe *I* don't care that much? Hard to comment when I'm not real sure what it is you're saying. But I will say this. Those of us who saw the SCREENING, saw an unfinished product. That's how I went into the theatre on the night of May 26th. I'm no Joss sycophant, but I also must admit I do like much of what he's done. Per the BDM, there were things I wish had been done differently, I freely admit. (I've decided to order the comic books, too, btw. I hope to have them here before the BDM ) But Joss had a story to tell, and he's gotten the chance to do it. That's far more than many ever expected back in 2002 when the word was given that Firefly was cancelled. And there are hopefully more movies to look forward too.
