Again I disagree with you on this, it is was an announcment becuase it was the FIRST time I had ever told Anyone that adam had agreed to sign.

So its ok that I post that adam agreed to sign as long as I dont put a link to my site in the post but if I add a link to my site. It becomes a Ad?

If I said "Come buy my signed adam balwin comics now" and that was it. It would be an ad, but the post was made to give people a heads up that adam had agreed to sign with 258. There is a diffrence. I dont spam these announcements, I just make them when I have another cast memember signed on. Why is this such a HUGE deal with you guys, I dont understand it.

Adam agreeing to sign with 258 is an announcement that you have an exclusive item in your store that nobody else has. So while you're not directly peddling a product (which is a gray area at best), you are suggesting that people support your business (the only place to get the announced product), which is an ad.

If your announcement were "Adam Baldwin will be signing 258 comics available everywhere comics are sold." It is an announcement. Once it's an exclusive product with a link to buy it, it's an ad, therein lies the difference.

As for why this is a "huge deal", it goes first to the general courtesy of posting in the appropriate forum. It's along the same lines of posting a political thread in General Discussions. While you certainly have a right to promote your product, there is a forum set up for that, your signature links to your site (which is common and I have no problem with), and you have a link in the designated area of the site for ads (marketplace). Therefore, it might be considered that your website is the best place to make an announcement about new exclusive products, considering the ample number of links you have around here already.

Or a better solution might be to create a single thread in One Trading Post titled "Items Available at 258 West" and post any new items to that thread (which will bump up to the front of the list like any other when you add something new), rather than creating a new thread for news regarding your store.

You have some points, but I disagree. I am big fan of the show and a regular forum poster, ( mostly on the browncoats site and jump in here when I can. I think I have earned the right to post information, I feel people would like a heads up on. Also I get alot of thanks for the information I post as well. Not everyone see's it the way you do, I agree some do. Like I said I think I have earned the right to post threads in the genreal forum as well. I dont spam it, so I do see what the big deal is. If I only used the forums to promote my items then yes maybe thats a finer line.

Hey here's an idea,for all the people who think this is an ad---DONT READ IT! But nooooooooooooo, everybody has to play high and mighty with marco.I have met marco(he as I are fellow NYC browncoats) and I can tell you from only meeting him receintly, he is a good guy.I have had no problem with recieving my merchandise(and I just met him 2 weeks ago) So,sure if you want to post other stores,that's fine,but enough with the bashing.He is a Browncoat.

I guess the reason I haven't bought anything from 258 is because it sure looks like you're trying to take advantage of browncoats being very loyal and intense fans.

I know you haven't come out and said anything like that it's just the impression I get from your posts. They come off as "haha I know you guys will eat this up so I'll sell you anything I can to make money off of you". The posts about every Firefly/Serenity item you have for sale aren't helping. Also that you seem to refuse to post to the marketplace portion of the site isn't winning you any points.

Personally I went to things from another world as well for my comics. I could be totally wrong about you, but if there's a chance I'm right then I'm not giving you my money. I'm in this thing for the love of the show, characters and people involved. Not money.

I understand, Nothing I can do but do what I do. I can tell you I was a fan of the show since day one with the Train Job. I am also a memember of the New York City browncoats. Also, I post in the forum all the time, not just posts about my shop. I also give things away free things to browncoats who order from my ship in their packeges. I have been putting in 2-3 free promo cards with every shippment since I got the promo cards, I shipped free serenity sells sheets with every order ( I am not selling them on ebay for $2-$5 a pop like everyone else either. You can look at the glass half empty and choose not to shop at my store. I also asked Keith RA DeCandido to sign all my copies of the serenity book and not charging a penny extra for the book ( he is a memember of the NYC browncoats to ). I also worked very very hard and spent a lot of money to get the cast to sign the comics, so that browncoats who could not get a chance to meet any cast members could join in on the fandom. I didnt want to see people getting taken advantage of on Ebay buying fake autograph stuff. Also I think I have been very informitive to a lot of browncoats who have never got comics, action figures or trading cards. Geting them all the info they need to make an informed dission. Of course I will make money on this as well, but it also costs a lot of money to.

As one person who doesn't get to go to conventions or hang around places where the BDHs go, I'm glad to have someone offering collectible items like this. I've ordered some items from Things from Another World. They are a great place, but they don't have anything that I can't get from every other online place. Marco is trying to provide something to people like me who would normally not get a chance to get something autographed. I think that's nice. And I'm glad he's making an announcement because how else would I know about it??

I've never met him, but have actually emailed back and forth with him quite a bit. He's very prompt in his replies. I know someone said they didn't have much luck with him, but I have had the exact opposite experience. And he's also been very fair on giving me the sale discount on an item that I had already pre-purchased. So, if I have to deal with a friendly, online retailer, who's also a Browncoat, I would pick Marco every time.
