It took a bit of digging, but for those of us on MySpace with "Serenity" as friend got a bulletin today entitled "R. Tam Session 1."
I did a bit of digging, and found the URL where the feed is located. Follow these instructions:
1. Open WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER.
2. Go to FILE - Open URL
3. In the window, type this URL: http://www.theidlekind.com/session1.wmv
It's soooooooo good! Trust me, you won't believe your eyes. (And NO, IT'S NOT A SPOILER!!!!)

The discussion over on the BC board is that we got the last one first, then the first one, and then we'll get a few more that chronicle what the Alliance was doing to River while she was their captive.

But what is it, where did it come from? Is it part of the movie, part of some aspect or marketing?

Yeah, the general thought is that this is kind of underground marketing-- getting people interested in a weird video, and then they find out it's related to an upcoming movie. Just another way to create the much needed word-of-mouth. I imagine this is all in addition to the standard commercials, trailers, etc. that we will see in the next few weeks.
I've seen Serenity, and this is not part of the movie. Since the interviewer is undeniably Joss Whedon, I imagine he had something to do with its release. I bet he is enjoying all the hubbub surrounding it right now.
