I started a new one because the old one was taking too long to load up!
Okay so today was a busy day! I stopped at Ri-Ra's (where we plan to go for after movie partying) and spoke to the manager. His name is Greg Batchelor and he is very excited about the party. Ri-Ra's will let us order food all night and we will have our very own drink special! Normally they stop serving food at 9:30pm. Oh and Lissa they usually do not allow people under 21 but they will make an exception for YOU and maybe one or two others. Friday night is always crowded but he didn't bat an eye at the number of people coming! I plan to hear more from him tomorrow on several other little things. By the way they also are a restaurant so if some people want we can get there before the movie and have dinner.
Next I went to the Best Western that we will be staying at and had a chat with the manager there. I am sorry but I forgot her name but she was super nice! She new exactly who I was AND what group I represented.
Sorry to say the pool will NOT be open past 9:00PM. You can wave those bikini's around but it won't do a lick of good. Now as long as we are respectful to the guests and good little Browncoats we have been given permission to use the dining and meeting rooms to gather and hang out! Free!

I've spoken with the Universal Rep, and while there are some legal loose ends to tie up, something about Theatres not being allowed to formally 'bid' for a film without a screening, it seems that Mr. Peebles, the owner of the Ambassador Entertainment, took it upon himself and established a relationship with the Universal Rep on our behalf, so that Universal has pretty much decided that Mission Valley Theatre will be an excellent venue for both the showing of the film AND our Premiere Event. The folks at 'Versal to whom this info is relevant are aware that fans nationwide are planning major premiere events with theatres and are apparently quite excited about it. To quote the 'Versal rep who spoke to me. . .

So it looks like we're going to be at Mission Valley, which is convenient to hotels and resturants, has plenty of parking, a nice-sized lobby, and an owner who had already agreed early in the summer to allow us to have the NCBDMPP in the first place!

Very cool.
I reserved my room today and have a friend in Raleigh to meet up with, too.
I apologize for asking as I did post on the yahoo group but what time are we to see the movie? Is it just Friday or Saturday too? Just curious because some friends wouldn't be able to come down until Saturday but didn't know if the party would be over by then. Thanks for the help and if it has been answered on the yahoo group then I apologize and you can ignore this question :)

We plan to see the movie several times over the weekend. Right now I think the general pick is the 7PM showing. With Ri-Ra's to follow. I know that some people won't be coming in til later but they will be coming to the party that night.
On Saturday some people are going to a Renaissance Fair. The rest of us plan to go do local activities like museums and putt-putt. I called the local putt-putt/lazer tag/go-cart/arcade place in town and they would be willing to set up something for a party this size.
Mostly I think we will be playing in the pool and going to see Serenity over and over and over again. Maybe doing a Firefly dvd viewing party too. Who knows.
More info to come once DragonCon is over.
