leeway?

nope, not a chance. If he was actually genuinely philanthropic (*cynic alert* as opposed to claiming tax-breaks) he would donate his money to established organisations rather than presume he knows best and set up more, thereby devaluing the amount he gives because of the increased administration costs in setting up NGOs. Of course, other organisations that accept donations from him are obligated to spend the money where he wants and because the sums are so large they have little choice but to accept. This is tantamount to blackmail and again decries the very essence of what Live 8 was about. The man is a nothing will persuade me otherwise, but I like people to try

extremely dimensionally transcendental

Ok, I'll only have this one post and then i'll let it rest because i don't want the thread to descend into an argument where neither side will budge...

The main area of his spending as I said was HIV/AIDS, and when he started his vaccination program a number of years ago there was no other organization to do the job (to my knowledge). He has made medication available to over twice as many people as had access to it before (it may be more, I can't remember the exact figures but it certainly isn't less). In my opinion, even if he is getting some tax breaks from his charity work it is worth it because lots and lots of suffering people are now getting the chance to live solely because of the efforts of Bill and his wife. Also I should probably point out that Bill no longer actually runs any of MS business stuff anymore because he spends all his time organising the charity side of things.

Anyway, as I said this will be my last post on the issue so I hope I haven't bored too many people!

Any chance of this moving into Real World Discussion and letting the wacky randomness resume? (Maybe there could be Tech Support thread too! Or even a Support for Tech Support Staff thread!!)

Yeah sorry for that people, as I said I've finished now, let the randomness continue!

Baa!

On a brighter note, 1 day until London screening!

It's a short time until the screening
It's a short time to go
It's a short time until the screening
And the greatest film I know....

No, I'm working until 5 tomorrow so I'm just coming as soon as I can with a couple of others, so I'm afraid I won't be at the shindig! Stupid work!

Ah well, the film's the important thing I guess (and it's not often I place anything over TGI cocktails!)
