Wow. I just got the DVD of the show and watched it in one sitting. I agree it is the best TV show I never saw. I know FOX put it on at odd times, but I usually pick up on out-of-the-way shows.

I'm so at home in this series I don't even need a costume to go to a convention. I DRESS LIKE THAT ALREADY. My clothes are a mix of military surplus, western wear, Filson tin cloth, danner boots and high-tech add-ons. It's standard Alaska clothing--the best of whatever you can get your hands on mashed together. Whatever survives, basically.

I also have great affinity with the main characters. A lot of us up here are in Alaska for a reason. Suffice it to say there are certain states I'm no longer welcome in. 'Nuff said.

Wow! A real Browncoat!

Anyway, welcome to the fold. It's a bit like the crease, only it's intentional and doesn't involve cricket.

It's true. Most of my clothing is a shade of brown. Though not all of it started out that way.

Consider yerself lucky you didn't have to go through the uncertainty of indefinite hiatus the anguish of cancellation the heartbreak of not being picked up by another network and, after the joy of hearing the movie was greenlit by Universal, months and months and months of brutal WAITING for the film! ;)

Oh, and to make it up to us old-timers, all newbies are required to recruit 50 more fans. So go gather yourself some Alaskan browncoats, Cosmo! Ma shong! :)

Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

Don't blame yourself, Cosmo. It's a crazy 'verse, things happen. The important thing is that we've finally found each other. Welcome aboard!

50 more fans? Are there that many people in Alaska?

Dont feel bad bro, I was working the nights it played and didnt get around to seeing it until 2 weeks ago. Hell, we even met Jewel Staite at Dreamcon here in Jacksonville last year. Wow what a nice woman, and lovely too. And still I didnt go out and buy the box.

Its funny you say you watched it in one sitting, cause we did the same thing. My wife or I would go, "just one more episode then we do something else..." 12 hours later and we were like, "Thats all there is? Noooooo!!!"

Yep. And Joss said that Firefly was considered the most cancelled show of the 2002-2003 season. heh heh.

I've already got one person to buy the series DVD. Though they were in the UK. I'll spread the word locally. Some of here even have 'lectricity ;-)

I notice the air dates were late 2002, which means at the time I was out in the Butte and could not get any TV stations at all. So that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Last year, here at my university, I converted...oh...20 or so people, at least 3 of which actually bought the DVDs, which is fairly amazing for college students.

This semester, I arrive on campus, and the first day I'm here, three people ask me to let them borrow the show, including one person I've genuinely never seen before.

I think I'm doing my part :)
