I agree it is a fan vid. The titles and the guy in the white jacket seem like it was shot with a video camera to me. Later comes superimposed footage of Summer from a scene she did in "The 4400" a few months ago. At least, I think it was from that show - she did guest star, and played a very River-esque part. Seems like she's getting type-cast.

Has anyone seen her in that role, who could ID the footage as coming therefrom? I've never seen her except as River, so cannot say.

I also recall nothing from her 4400 appearance that would resemble that (this seemed to be portrayed as more of the "Objects in Space"-esque "in control" River, whereas her 4400 stint would give the appearance of the "Train Job" psycho sister River.

I don't recall the line from her on the 4400 at all, though, admittedly, the ep was at the start of the season many weeks ago.

She never did a scene like that in The 4400, plus she has 'River' voice, not the more normal 'Summer' voice she had in The 4400. It could very well be a fanvid - but that is DEFINITELY Summer. It COULD be a digital rebuild of somesort, but that's a lot of trouble to go to...and she looks very, very real.

Word is that it's not from Universal. It could be, and they're denying it, or it could be a project Summer and Joss did for the heck of it, or simply Summer and some friends...reasonably, any idea could make sense. A lot of people think it may be part of an Alternate Reality Game ploy, which I think makes a lot of sense. Maybe we'll get Excerpt 1 (or another session completely) on SciFi during their Firefly episode tomorrow? That would be teh awesome.

I'd also like to add...I think it's supposed to be shot from a hidden camera, as if the Academy was keeping video footage of interviews and 'sessions' they did with their 'students'. This is why I think it's kind of bare...it's not supposed to be flashy, it's supposed to be a documentation of River speaking.
