From Moviehole:Gina Torres has officially dotted her I's and crossed
her T's to reprise her role as Zoe in a "Serenity" sequel - if the studio
calls for it. "Not everyone will be coming back, some of their stars
are rising far too high, but Whedon's locking most of the cast down for
sequel one and two", says a studio insider. According to our friend with
his glass against the door, "Whedon's got his story mapped out already
for the next one - it's a tale that'll continue for three films".

This sounds like people are EXPECTING sequels and that's good news but I thought ALL the players were already signed on for 3 movies...so is there some bad news waiting int he wings?

"Appears they've cancelled the show and we're still here. What does that make us?"
"Big damn junkies, Sir!"
"Ain't we just."

heh, this kind of answers a question i just made about the possibility of the show coming back to tv. I guess that's not likely if they're already talking sequels.

I sure hope they can sign everyone up for all the possible sequels though. I love the cast. Would not be the same without them.

I've seen the movie and I ain't sayin nuttin!!!!

As far as good news/bad news, well, I guess Joss needs to know who would and would not be up for doing the sequals so he can plan his stories accordingly.

I would suggest to all those who don't want to be spoiled for this movie, or the sequals, to try to steer clear of these kinds of announcements, although that is kinda hard to do.

I just hope that any and all of those involved with Serenity, when asked if they will be involved in the sequals, simply state "No comment". That would be the kindest thing to do.

I agree with you on that one. The actors should just say "no comment". that way nobary knows what is going on and the result would be a suprize. I hope that made sence.

acctually all of the actors were signed to do sequels when they signed up to do the first. Watch the Comic Con video. When asked if it was coming back to TVm Joss said that he cant see it coming back to the small screen until he has done the sequels, but that, "Ya never know"... I magine if they money is there we will have movies and TV shows, with the entire cast.

I trust the actors and everyone here. Whatever's needed for this movie is what we're gonna get. I don't entirely trust this site, the "Universal exec" that this quote is based on just doesn't seem reliable enough to me to base an news thread on. None of these actor's are gonna refuse to return just because they're too good for Serenity 2. Just have some faith, and keep focused on our current project: making Serenity the biggest movie of the season (well, at least before Potter and King Kong come out, the big action flicks of the summer were pretty disapointing but I don't think there's any way we're gonna compare to Goblet of Fire).

""Not everyone will be coming back, some of their stars
are rising far too high"

huh? Aren't they all one happy family who would love doing the sequals together anymore then?

If XMen can get Halle Berry for 2 movies, I don't se why the same can't be done for Serenity.

But there ya have it. Things are the way they are.

Not to be nasty but whose star is "rising too high"? The only one I could think might be even vaguely close is Alan but he's now in a musical for 8 months or so, as a replacement cast member (plus he was the one who said this was a three picture deal so it's likely his contract is all signed and sealed).

In fact, the only one had vaguely worried about was Gina herself (she always feels like she could hit one big role and become big big) and she's apparently signed too so I shouldn't worry about it too much.

One thing to keep in mind is that contracts or no (and I've always kinda thought the "everyone signed for two sequels" seemed more like rumor than anything else), Joss isn't one to make actors stick around if they don't want to. Remember Seth Green on BUFFY? Joss had an entire arc planned for him, and one day early in the season, Seth asked Joss to write him out. So he did. Joss said something to the effect of "I didn't want to hold his career back." Other than Mal, everyone is expendible. Not that I want any of them leave. But I can't see Joss not respecting someone's wish to leave if they really want to.
