I think we'll do 80 mil globally. 'Cause I think were gonna do 40 mil domestically in the first two weeks. 20 on opening weekend and 20 over the remaining 11 days. Just so long as we all commit to seeing it at least twice.

Here is a quote from the EW article--
"I was a Whedon stalker,"laughs Mary Parent,Universal's now-out going vice chairman of production, who dug Whedon's vision and no-surrender passion. She also reconized a potentially marketable Cinderella story."I thought this band of underdogs could make for a cool movie."

here is another quote--is a quote from the EW article--
Universal execs say the film would need to gross north of 80 mil to garner sequel consideration(sorry didn't read that part before)--not an impossible dream, given that Whedon also bosts a strong following abroard("Trilogy!" cries Fillion)

I'll have to look for the EW so I can read the article.
We kind of knew we would have to have an 80 million plus figure in order to get a sequel. Adam said as much at Dragon Con last year.
We need to keep up our efforts to bring in new people, go see the BDM as many times as we can afford in the the crucial opening weekend & following two weeks, and get friends and family to go as well.

Yeah, if all it's going to take is 80, we'll be getting our sequel...

I'm committed to twice. Maybe more if funds permit. 80 mil seems very attainable. We just can't get comfortable with the idea that it is attainable and slack off. Which I'm sure we won't.
