I was one of the one's with a flame thrower in my hand. Not particularly pleased with how it went or how I presented myself which is why I'm not getting into it again. I took note of the general attitude and, well, decided not to touch on the subject again.

No, Orson Scott Card is not gay. Some people believe that since he tries to be a good Mormon, and follow his Church's teachings, he must be a raving homophobic fag-hater. And he has said in more than one article that he believes homosexuality is a sin. But if you read his work, you get another picture. One of tolerance, to say the least.

There are some who refuse to read his books because of the views he supposedly holds. And I think that they are missing out on a very talented and engrossing author.

Easy Simon. Down boy. And all the rest of you can chill, too. It boils down to this. Someone can have admirable talent but (to you or me) unadmirable opinions. For example. Most rock stars, past and present, weren't big on morality, no taking drugs, etc. etc. Does that mean that I stop listening to Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd or Pearl jam or Nirvana or Audioslave or Queens of the Stone Age because I don't like a thing they said or a thing they did? No. Because they're still very talented, and the art they create appeals to me. I can't stand Tom Cruise as a person, but I think he's made some good movies. Same for Russel Crowe, who, as I understand it, is a complete asshole of the highest order.

And to be on topic, IMDB guy is a douche(used) and a troll(unbathed).

The guy did recant, he apologised (in a separate "Public apology to Jewel Staite") thread, and erased most of the inflamatory remarks.

A nicer idea, I thought (and was too late to start it myself, but I continued it), was not to keep rehashing it, but write a message for Jewel, supporting her.

Obviously she reads the IMDB, or someone points it out to her, so hopefully they'll point this one out to...

Add a really nice message and make her day...
