Whoever these guys are, they ain't Browncoats. Have any of you read about this game? Serenity with guns? Alien ships?

Come on now...

Hey, to be honest, a top-down Serenity shooter doesn't sound like my cup of tea, but I think we'd better get used to it. Nathan's asked for an X-Box game, after all... Me, I'll take a CRPG anyday, but any video game of Serenity = more publicity. Just having these guys (and us!) asking Verizon to have the game brings the attention of non-Browncoats :)

I got my copy of the promo video - it IS a very top-down-shooter thing from what I saw, but there are some shiny movie clips in Verizon phone resolution - they look great! I'm hoping for a few cutscenes between shooting ships, from what I'm seeing. That'd be worth the download, even if I never play the rest of it.

Agreed.

This smacks of the same trick many companies use with crummy platformer engines.

"Gee, let's mod it up a bit, slap a movies name on it and push it out the door, we can sell mega copies before they realize what total CRAP it is!"

Sorry folks, crap won't cut it, and it'd be a disgrace to slap the serenity name on a turd as big as this one, let's not lower ourselves here - demand the quality the series deserves!

I know y'all wanna get the word out, but associating the name with garbage isn't the way to go.

But... If we support the however un-movie/tv series like game, it will make more money for the franchise

"We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so...very...pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die." Mal, Serenity part 1

Sorry, I would have to agree with the dissenters here. Exposure is great, but if done poorly, it can only turn people away.
I'm not sure how making a game completely unrelated to the movie other than the name and look of the ship could possibly help spread interest, and I don't know many fans who would enjoy it just for those two features.

I have to disagree with you here, BDJSB7. First, a basic point. Just because the Serenity in the videogame is different from the spaceship we all know and love, doesn't mean its going to be a bad game.

Secondly, there are a lot of people out there that love these sort of simplified shooters, including myself. They are fun to play on the run, and simple enough to entertain even those who do not consider themselves gamers, or who have never heard of Serenity. Given that videogaming is now a multi-billion dollar industry, this is not something to dismiss lightly.

The success of the BDM, for better or worse, rests on its ability to draw mass appeal. These are the sort of games that draw mass appeal, and will help get the name Serenity out there. So from my perspective, it's all good. Let's do what needs to be done to get people into the theaters September 30th.

Okay, I sent my email and got the clip back and I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but since when does Serenity have guns? This is a game where your ship sits and shoots at other ships and has to sneak past things and from what it looked like, wouldn't do a lot to bring support for the movie since they are totally different. Not sure if this would be a good thing. Just my opinion!
