Okay, I'm just sitting here with nothing to do and nothing to talk about. I've got writer's block on my fic and a headache. So what you guys wanta talk about?

When I come here I have a hard time thinking about anything but Firefly. But out of curiousity, what kind of hobbies do we all have? Do you collect anyhthing and if so what? What do we do when were not thinking Firefly?

I'm getting back into the gaming, which I dropped last October when Firefly took my brain over. DiabloII right now, but that's just until I can get my mitts on Deus Ex 2. I'm a first person shooter fan from way back-- meaning DOOM.

I do water aerobics and yoga and should lift weights but often don't cos that's too solitary for me.

I read. Just finished a second reading of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King. I highly recommend it. I think it will resonate with most Firefly fans. I've moved on to The Moon is a Harsh Mistress as recommended by my fellow Browncoats. Good so far and I'm woman enough to admit that I'm a little confused.

I used to knit but kind of got tired of that. 'Sides, that's a winter thing and it was 85 here today. I would knit if I had someone to knit for. Anybody want an afghan?

Okay, you guys are for real?

At the moment I’m spending most of my time doing homework in an attempt to graduate and get a degree in something that probably wont help me one bit in the future.

Any spare time I have after that, (and not counting when I’m hanging around this board), I do a little writing, lots of pretty weird art, as much research reading as possible, ballroom dancing, fencing, old fashioned arguing, beginning rock climbing (which by the way I‘m horrible at), self taught html (another thing I’m currently horrible at) and have been searching for a place to take motorcycle lessons at this summer. Though, pretty soon I’m going to have to get a job, and I’m sure everything else will be thrown out the window so I can concentrate on earning my minim wage.

There. Now it’s somebody else’s turn, I’m board too.

Board, cute. I was gonna say I know you think about things other than Firefly. (of course I always look for a connection to Firefly)

Hobbies, well now that I've finally gotten to Florida a whole new list of hobbies are developing. One of the great carry-overs is scuba diving. I've been waiting to dive down here for a long time. Lake Erie is just damn cold and the quarries are pretty boring. Finally getting into cave diving. Love caves, even better underwater. Jet skiing, boating, fishing, just so much to do here.

Collecting, well, sadly I collect about everything. Got a great train collection I started when I was about 9 and have quite a few old ones from Europe where the quality is amazing. Used to collect Magic cards until a few years ago. Got boxes and boxes of everything up to ice age. Lots of other cards too. Nutcrackers, lots of them (the wooden carved character ones). I also collected full size video games. At one time had about 50 of them. Sold all but 2 before moving, they are just too big to move all this way. Now I've been focusing more on classic home game systems and computers. Matter of fact at the end of march there was a big show up in Philly so I used that as an excuse to visit my brother who lives there. Found a game for the atari 2600 called Firefly. Never played it before but I had to have it obviously because of the name. Like I said, could probably fill 100 threads with all my different collections but I'll leave it at that for now.

I'm a full-time professional web designer and journalist, but in my spare time I have about 20+ fan sites I maintain, and do a lot of freelance web and journalist work. I write constantly, and read constantly. I've got a handful of fave authors: Charles de Lint, Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, Emma Bull, John M. Ford, Raymond Chandler, James Ellroy, Walter Mosley, Jane Yolen. I'm seriously addicted to fairy tales, folk tales and mythology, as well as hard-boiled detective fiction, urban fantasy, and the like. I read a little horor and very very occasionally SF, but my main faves are the above.

I used to read comics, from age 12 all through college--I read DC super-hero titles from 1986 to 1994 or so, but the only monthly book I'm reading now is Ed Brubaker's Catwoman, tho I really do need to read all of Warren Ellis' TransMet and I devoured the first collection of megatokyo a few weeks back, and need to catch up on-line.

I just came out of a 4 year relationship, so it's been a kinda squirrelly 3 weeks. But I love to cook (my black bean chili kicks major ass), and love to walk all over my hometown on week-ends, and I've become quite the music freak lately. I don't club (so amazigly NOT a club kid), but I do love goth/industrial and techno and such, as well as live Irish music any chance I can find it.

Ok, I'm bored too--which is really thinly disguised stress about all I was to accomplish this weekend and haven't even made a dent in and am contemplating staying up late to finish but not really because what's the point--and writer's block sucks, I agree. Anything we can do to help? Bounce around ideas or something? I'm always up for a good brainstorm ...

Notice how long weekends always seem like--oh, a whole day! What a lot you can get accomplished! What a lot of plans to fulfill! And then it's all over and you're like, well, huh--guess a day isn't really so long.

Back to work tomorrow. Gorram it.

You know I'm not making fun of your speeling Kaythryn. Hell, you've put up with mine.

I love reading. That's one of the best parts of the net. It's like a giant library. Read lots about paranormal activities and hoaxes and on and on. Got a pretty good comic collection too. All I've bought lately is the Amazing Spiderman and Rising Stars both by Strazynski. His series Midnight Nation though was just awesome. Only 12 issues but now the trade paperback is out. Highly recommended.
