I love villains. They get to have so much fun.

I just finished watching Farscape Season 4, and that coupled with the ongoing best-Buffy-season discussion raised a question...

Who is your favorite villain in an series? Or, failing that, give me a top 3 list?

My personal list is 2-deep. These guys are the creme-de-la-creme.

1) Scorpius (Farscape) - Just incredible. Scary-looking, but eloquent and intelligent. One of the things I like best about Scorpy is that he has the Wolfram&Hart thing going for him -- when a villain is trying to KILL the hero, and he (of course) keeps failing, he looks like an incompetant boob. But when his objective requires the hero to stay alive, and he even occasionally helps out to keep it that way.. That's cool. Mad props for Scorpy.

2) The Mayor. Difficult to knock down to the two spot, because as Chrisisall put it, he's a 'hoot'. Ward Cleaver, but EVIL. And happily so, which I think marks the difference between regular evil and villainy. Panache. The Mayor's got it in spades.

3) Lilah. Hard to include her on the list, because I don't really think of her that way. Usually I think of her in the sweaty "leave the glasses on" kinda way. OK, I'm getting sidetracked. But seriously, that's my kind of woman. Mmm..

I'll be in my bunk.

My favourite villians are complicated and confusing.
The Mayor is great, as is Faith. Scorpius was all Freddy-like, and deviously playfull. Belloque in Raiders, Niska, geez, I could go on and on with great ones...

So my favourites are:
Vader. He gave up ruling a galaxy and even his life for a boy - his son. Damn, that's big.
Donald Lydecker from Dark Angel. A very complicated one, is he bad?- yeah real bad, wait, not so bad- hey! Who's side is he on? huh?
Hans Gruber from Die Hard. Not that he's so very complicated, but look who played him. Yippie Kai Yea, mother*#%&er!!!

I'm sure there's someone I'm missing...

Bad to the bone Chrisisall

Elizabeth Hurley as the Devil.

Yay, I like lists!

Best vilains ever would be: Dilandu (from Escaflowne), Gosterro (from SPT Layzner), Scorpius, and Darth Vader. The japanese actor for Dilandu would also get credit for the best 'maniacal laugh'.

Stillshiny, have to diagree- sorry! I thought the original Bedazzled was so much better than the remake, and Peter Cooke was better in the role. However, I will grant that Hurley is less harsh on the eyes.

Vader without a doubt.
Big bad guy with epic plot arc. (well maybe forget the epic because of the writing but...)

Mal: "We're not gonna die. We can't die, Bendis. You know why? Because we are so...very...pretty. We are just too pretty for God to let us die."

Joel Bissonnette as Arnaud De Fehrn (from The Invisible Man), the villain you loved to hate. I mean really, really hate. Just... grrr. Evil. Kill 'im if you could, but them you'd never hear any of the strange, funny things he has to say anymore.

Speaking of villains you love to hate... Ethan Rayne. "Well, you won't have to worry about that anymore, mate. When you went to the loo I slipped a small pellet of poison in your drink. You'll be dead in an hour. [long, deadly silence] Just kidding!"

1. Angelus (Buffy season 2) - He killed Willow's fish! How evil is that?!?
2. Arvin Sloane (Alias) - Is he bad? Is he good? The world may never know..
3. The First (Evil) (Buffy season 7) - Come on, Evil is its actual name! This is the daddy of all villains, incorporeal and undying. Points off for not actually being able to hurt anyone due to the incorporealness..)

But.. Let's not forget the best BDH villains.. Caleb (Cappy in Buffy), Jasmine (Gina in Angel), Hamilton (Adam in Angel), Knox (Tracey in Angel), and to an extent, Heidi (Jewel in Wonderfalls)

Am I forgetting anyone?

Okay, I'm a big wierdo, but I LOVED Ursula from Disney's The Little Mermaid.

I adore villians. They are always my favorite in stories.
