Why start the show w/ part 1 last week at all if you're just gonna start over again 1 week later?

In case any new viewers missed Part 1?
I understand they'll actually be re-playing Part 1 in the preceding time slot, so Part 2 will be aired in the same time slot that Part 1 was aired last week. I think.
(I don't have cable anymore.)

So when is the new trailer going to be shown, at the end of part 2 maybe?
Maybe a few of the 1.6m will tell their mates to watch this awesome TV show and that they can still watch it from the beginning.

My guess is they wanted to lure people in by showing them Part 1 and them hook them by showing them the whole thing.
Or...they were hoping that last monday everyone would be standing around their various water coolers at their various jobs talking about this cool show they saw on SciFi with this girl in the box and what does it all mean? And so all the oblivious people who have managed to remain in a black hole of Firefly unconsciousness all this time would get a chance to see the whole thing.
And they aired the trailer halfway through part 2.

or because they didn't have anything scheduled at 6pm/5pm Central time?
At any rate, I was thrilled to see the whole thing...
but did they cut a scene near the end there?

Who cares why they re-aired it, just be happy it's back on TV.

Jayne: Yes.
Mal: Well… you can’t.

Sci-Fi does this type of scheduling all the time, especially when there are multiple episodes of a show. They will run Part 1 one night, then the next night (or next week) they will repeat Part 1 just prior to airing Part 2. In the case of "Taken" they repeated each episode the following night before the new ep.
Concerning the full-screen format, I noticed at least one good thing about it tonight. After they escaped the Reavers, you could not see that Wash was not holding the steering yoke, which is one of the most glaring errors in the whole series.

True, but isn't it weird how you never notice it until someone points it out to you? ;)
