I look like that!
No wait...
That was a dream...
Dreams, reality, reality dreams, always getting the two mixed up...
A woman drove me to drink and I didn't even have the decency to thank her.

Just to be clear - we talking about Summer or Nathan?!

But that ain't River! River is a broken person, driven to the edge of madness and just barely clinging the tatttered shreds of her sanity. She's too nuts to care very seriously about the way she looks. I like the way it was put: this is "glamour-shots River", not thoroughly-cracked-morbid-and-creepifying River. The fact that River is pretty is an odd counter-point to her craziness. This poster seems to be making her craziness an odd counter-point to her hotness. And at the risk of going all broken-record, that ain't River.

Good point.
This may sell better with non-ff fans tho, sex sells and all that...
Not really the point tho I know...

Just for the record i think this is what the alliance wanted her to be:

She looks more tough/dangerous to me in this poster (River as played by Eliza Dushku). I like the design but it represents neither "our" River nor "our" FIREFLY.
But this poster has to pull in both non-Browncoat SciFi fans and the general movie-going public as well. And it may effective for that purpose.
But I do worry about the other 7 characters not being represented. This poster may create an expectation in those who aren't familiar with FIREFLY into thinking it's something it's not. And that unfulfillment may generate some bad word-of-mouth. I suppose the trailer (haven't seen it--trying to remain as spoiler-free as possible) may take care of that. Still, I would have liked to seen some way to work in the other 7 characters.

I'm adding my voice to InevitableBetrayal's rant :)
Sorry, I have the old poster as my desktop, horrible photo quality and all. And I'm NOT putting this one on. That ain't River. And I want the crew.
The good news is that Nathan is good - still our Captain in a worried sorta moment - and I've noticed a few changes I LIKE (the Chinese character in there is nice).
Sigh. I hope the masses enjoy it. I'll stick to my campy shot-by-a-fan version...

Just noticed the slogan. It sounds too generic and I think it's misleading.
It makes it sound like the movie takes place in modern times and something cataclysmic is going to happen in the future and the two characters you see in the poster have to change something in our present in order to stop it. But I guess the trailer will prevent that impression.
