Hey all. I just saw THE ISLAND. It was an OK flick, Bay's best flick since THE ROCK 9 years ago. The actual sci-fi components were compelling enough and it didn't seem too much like a LOGAN'S RUN/ THX-1138 knock-off like I thought it would be.
But to me, the best part of THE ISLAND was the casting of Ethan Phillips aka. Neelix off of STAR TREK: VOYAGER as Jones Three Echo. Even without the make-up, you can clearly tell it's him. He played sort of the usual comic relief sidekick, but he did it so well. And it's nice to see a cast member of VOYAGER still working after the show's been of for four years or so, and in something this high profile.
Oh, and Steve Buscemi was great as usual.

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like ... ow ... ound ... round ... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?

Wow. That's one character I hadn't heard or thought about in many a year. Good for him.

I saw the Island over the weekend. It rocked. About a half hour of set up about what the world of the movie is all about, then an hour and a half of chasing, wanton destruction, futuristic effects, and occaisional scenes to catch your breath.
Apparently, it didn't do too well in the box office though.

The day I say I "adore" a movie is the day I stick a pitchfork up my a$$ for being such a wuss!

According to IMDB ( http://www.imdb.com/chart/, but the page only gives current info -- it will change next weekend)
#4 for the weekend, @USMb12, against an estimated budget of USMb122 (USMb is the movie money symbol for US Megabux). F4 & Bad News Bears drew about the same money, but BNB was made for the cost of rights to the original plus Billy Bob's salary plus pocket change, while F4 had covered its direct costs by the previous weekend.
I also liked the movie.
