Luckily, my friend with the Tivo had it set for the right time, and, further, has informed me that next week both halves of the Pilot will be broadcast starting at 3:00 PT, so I can still get a complete set of loaner copies (plus whatever ads/promos for Serenity may be attached.

Still -- It's a gorram bummer.

Actually it showed at 7 pm for me, I'm in Ca too but I don't have digital cable, I have regular extended cable or whatever it's called.

Maybe it's just my crappy Cable box, I don't know for sure, but the quality of the show on SciFi looked all grainy, not clear at all.

Oh yeah, and does anyone have a pic of the chick singing Mal's Song? Her voice is beautiful and I just want to match a face to it. I've had the song on repeat for about an hour now, it's too great for words.

There was nothing cut, I'll give them that. As for where part 1 ended, I can't remember--as soon as it was over I got out my DVD and finished the rest. Let's just say it left you wanting to see the rest. That's good for keeping those new viewers tuning in or buying the DVDs.

It aired at 7 pm on Comcast digital cable in L.A.

Surprised to discover they weren't airing it widescreen, especially since the rest of Sci-Fi's Friday night shows (the two Stargates and Galactica) are broadcast 16:9. To quote Jayne, "Don't make no sense."

I have the DVDs (two sets, in fact), so I can see it properly whenever I want, but you'd think Universal would air it the way it was meant to be seen, so as to best show off the program and attract potential Browncoats and new viewers.

I live in L.A. and have satellite service with Dish Network. This service gives the West Coasters the East Coast feed, so Firefly airs at 4:00 p.m. A time slot like that is not exactly prime time...

Often cable/satellite stations will repeat the 3 hour block of programs between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. This allows the PT folks to get the same prime time schedule as the ET folks. But Firefly isn't scheduled in this 3 hour block, so it's only shown once.

It'd be great if Sci-Fi would rebroadcast Firefly on another night during the week in the 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. time period. That way it would get a better time slot AND be part of the 3 hour block repeat.

Oh yeah, as long as I'm getting persnickity, the widescreen is really needed for Firefly. All the shots were set up for widescreen and too many times things and people kept getting cut off.

And the "world premiere" of the Serenity trailer next week may not be entirely accurate. "E" showed the trailer on one of their movie preview shows a few weeks ago.

Firefly gets back on TV, and somehow there's still plenty to whinge about!

The good news is that the small 15 second serenity commercial said they would be TV premiering the Serenity trailer during next week's episode of Firefly.

Last night during the Stargate episodes, I must have seen 6 Firefly ads. Relax, take a pill. Be grateful that they're showing it at all.

I seem to remember the commentary from the DVD (at least regarding the pilot Serenity) was Joss saying that he purposely framed the shots to be seen in widescreen. He made a point of mentioning that one of the first scenes he filmed was the shot where Mal and Simon confront each other on the catwalks of the cargo bay. Joss set it up so that each of them was positioned at the extreme opposite ends of the frame. Joss was making the most of the long aspect ratio of the widescreen format. That shot, among others, will suffer greatly from the ruttin' pan and scan.

I really wish Sci-Fi would air Firefly in widescreen, the way it was meant to be seen.
