He must have invented it with someone. A linguistics professor from, I believe UCLA, is actually credited with developing what is known as Klingonese.

RIP indeed. I too will have to find something green this evening and drink a toast (that's one of my favorite moments from the original series). I think an apple martini will be green enough.

Marc Okrand expanded it further but it was Doohan who came up with the words for Star Trek: The Motion Picture, the first Klingon used anywhere.

The news of his passing makes me very sad, another of my childhood heroes is forever gone...
You know what the chain of command is? It's the chain I go get and beat you with 'til you understand who's in ruttin' command here. (Jayne)
You can't open the book of my life and jump in the middle. Like woman, I'm a mystery. (Mal)
We gotta go to the crappy town where I'm a hero. (Wash)
The government is a body of people, usually notably ungoverned (Book)

Sad.
Hope he & DeForest Kelley are sharing a round right now, on all of us.

...or Romulan Ale, or Saurian Brandy...none of that 'synthehol' garbage!

I always loved you, Scotty. Keep working your miracles, wherever you are...

Well that really sucks. First it was Dr. McCoy, now it's Scotty.
It's weird, I had just bought the first season of the original Star Trek yesterday. And I always thought that if FIREFLY had continued, and they intorduced Kaylee's family, I always thought it would've been cool as Hell if they cast Jimmy Doohan as Kaylee's dad.
He'll definitly be missed.

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like ... ow ... ound ... round ... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?
